Pollination

Comment:
Bobby became the laughing stock of all the bees when they found out what he was up to out there in that clover field across the way. No matter how he tried to explain it, everyone knew that that wasn't what a Queen Bee looked like.

She clutched the blanket to her and struggled to breathe. For a moment she was unsure, it had seemed so real. For a moment it seemed as if it was still after her, but the glow of the lamp assured her it was not.

With a deep breath, and the return of all her senses, she realized it had all been just a dream. A horrible, frightening dream, but a dream. As her heart slowed, and her breathing settled down, she allowed herself to sink back onto the pillow and close her eyes.

This time, it didn't return.

Road to the Summit

Road to the Summit
by TLL061

Comment:
The road led ever onward. No matter how many goals that one reached, the road began again. Today's goal was a peak, in the distance. It looked like the ending, but it was a mirage. For at that peak would be a path that led away, and such as it was with life. No matter where you decided your end would be, another path would beckon.

Charles smiled and started the truck. To this ending then, where he'd find a new beginning.

He put his head in his hands in despair. Something that used to be so simple, was now so out of reach. Smacking the table in anger, followed by a tear of pure frustration, he struggled so hard to remember. So hard to recollect.

As his nurse came to place a blanket around his shoulders and lead him into bed, the tears fell a little more freely. Perhaps tomorrow it would return to him. Sometimes it did, you know. Sometimes it was like he was 20 again. Today, however, was not that day, and as he drifted off to sleep, sorrow in his heart and frustration in his brain, he prayed to whatever would hear him that tomorrow would be that day.

That tomorrow he'd be able to remember his daughter's name once again.

Comment:
Not to be outdone, God shows that he has a fashion sense too.

Unfortunately, like all parents that are out of touch, he finds out too late that he's a couple of decades behind, and that Mohawks and the Punk Scene have moved on.

Rock paused. For years he'd been making the trek across this vast and endless landscape. For years he'd encountered nothing, no-one. Luckily, he did not need food nor water to survive, but his mind was slowly going mad.

Now, suddenly, there was a person here! Perhaps they would talk to him, perhaps they would help him across this vastness, perhaps they...

... would do nothing. They lifted some strange instrument and Rock heard a click. Then, as fast as they had appeared, they were gone. Rock screamed an internal yet deafening scream as the desert returned to the empty force that it had been for so long, and Rock resumed his endless quest, his cracked mind gaining one more fissure.

Comment:
Todd wanted so much to live a live of excitement as a small time mugger. How unfortunate for him then, that he was born with the eyes that he had, for they glowed with an inner light that was extremely recognizable, no matter how dark the hood he wore.

It also didn't help that all the ladies he tried to mug fell madly in love with him and then started to stalk him.

It just wasn't fair.

Comment:
Matthew had a terrible affliction. Whenever it rained, he was uncontrollably compelled to go stand outside in it and pretend to be a film noir super-hero.

Alone

Comment:
As she wandered the desolate landscape, she could only internally curse herself for being so silly.

Next time, she thought, when given the choice between a backpack full of food and a coat, or a brightly colored bath toy and a nightie, perhaps choosing the bath toy and nightie wouldn't be entirely smart!

Sighing, she began her trek once more.

Nonchalance

Comment:
Peter lifted his head as the train rocketed off into the distance. Sighing heavily, he put his cheek into his palm and flicked a rock away from him. What was wrong with him? Why was he so useless?

He couldn't even get himself run over by a train properly.
