Edge of the Bayby charliebakerComment: Very cool shot! Looks over-sharpened to me. Like the juxtaposition of the silhouette and the boat. I think the composition would be better if the person were facing into the frame. Love the framing. Little seagull is a really cool touch as well. |

Black Dog by charliebakerComment: Gorgeous image. Really stood out to me. Very cool to see this familiar rocks in a different and foggy way (I thought this was Indian Beach until I read your comments). Nice composition. |

Room with a Viewby BAMartinComment: Nice picture of this hotel (specially compared to some that I saw in that historical link. cool to see it before though). I think one of the big problems of this shot, especially for DPC isn't extremely interesting to look at...it doesn't have the DPC "wow" factor. I think it is interesting to look at, especially with the vibrant colors and depth you've captured, but it is basically a picture of decaying hotel. I think it'd be cool to see somebody inside it looking around, but maybe that's dangerous. cool shot though. Message edited by author 2008-02-09 01:20:53. |

Cardinal by jmritzComment: Nice picture of a cardinal (and I love cardinals). Doesn't quite have the technical aspects and wow factor DPC likes though. First off, yeah, the image is relatively sharp, but not tack sharp. The composition is well, sorry to say, kind of boring. It is all centered. My eye is immediately drawn to the eye of the bird, but there isn't much to look at after that. I would like to see a little bit deeper DOF, but it looks like that'd be hard to do with this bird and those lighting conditions. Still, impressively close shot of a cardinal. |

Into the Unknownby NatashaComment: Lovely artistic shot! Not entirely sure about the gray vignetting around the edges. Maybe it makes it more interesting, but it kinda distracts me too. idk. I like how the foot steps lead up. When I first saw this image, I got the impression that the person was floating somehow...then I connected the footprints and snow =). Grainyness doesn't bother me much, but in this image, I can only find the grainyness on the back of the figure, that's bothersome to me. I was going to say something about the objects faded in the background, but I found that I like them, they give the image more depth. |

First Encounterby rexComment: Beautiful image, great composition and lighting. I have shot jellyfish before and know it is hard to get an good image that is in focus, well lit, and with a relatively good composition. You've done quite well here. I like the white specs in the background. I think you chose the correct image to submit compared to your two outtakes. |
