Sassyby dahlinComment: I find that the shirt really adds another layer to this, a description of the obvious. I like the underexposed look you've cultivated here. |

Unroasted & Roastedby dahlinComment: Also a cool shot. The vignette works with the subject matter well, and compounds the choice of focus, pulling the viewer into the center of the scene where the detail is. |

Air-Roasted Coffeeby dahlinComment: I really like the processing on this. The texture of the bag and the fashion in which it's illuminated is very nice. The way it rather fades into oblivion gives it an interesting "aged" look, though not antique, either. |

Pushing back the boundaries by keyzComment: Congratulations Julien! Glad to see a teammate garner another ribbon.
Excellent photo, and I can totally relate to your comments about feeling alive in settings like this. You've done a wonderful job of depicting that for the viewer, and I know exactly how hard it can be to capture a moment like that for those who weren't present. |

Carnivorous bug getting its vitamin Beeby AbraComment: I think the biggest issue here is that robber flies are an oft used subject and any shot of one that you enter is going to be compared to all the work of others, Roz being one of them. Dragonflies are the same way- That got a 5.77 in a FS. If you don't elevate them to a very high level, you'll score par at best. |

eyes wide shutby timfythetooComment: hahaha
I would've bumped my vote up for humor and creativity on this one. Funny idea. Reminds me of a Cheshire Cat. |

Land of the Wazirby aznymComment: This is bizarre, but awesome. The varied focus on what the insects is interesting. The powerlines aren't necessarily a defining feature, but it's a very interesting photo. |

Skeletal Remainsby vladoComment: I didn't vote this particularly high as it didn't strike me as particularly weathered as preserved (surprise surprise, now that I see it's in a museum). But as a photo, separate of prompt, I think it's a good shot. The shadows cast by the browridge over the eyes are menacing, sure, but add a great effect. |

Terminal Eyeby salmiakkiComment: I'm surprised this didn't score higher, as well. The silhouette action is pretty cool, and the blue, both the reflected and the direct light, combines nicely with this. The sense of scale is weird too, with how tiny that person in the background is, but they certainly don't look THAT far away. Good shot. |

Sunlight Dancing in the Forestby dahlinComment: This is probably one of the most painterly photos I've seen to date. The green is soothing, but something about the motion of the blur is unsettling, active, frenetic. Cool shot. |
