Taken with an extension tube... but I don't remember what size. Sorry.
Used on-board flash I think for the fourth or so time I've had the camera. Doesn't look too shabby either!
-.7EV on i-ttl flash, -1.3EV exp. comp.

This Ruby Meadowhawk landed on a flower as I was walking outside my house. I figured he would surely be gone by the time I returned with the camera but was optimistic. Glad I did!
Me messing around with my camera didn't bother him in the least, and I got a good number of other compositions but this was the best.

If a shot as good as this only gets 5.77 then I feel my bug score was too generous. Thanks for the comment and advice on my Orange III entry.

5.7? I'm not quite sure why. This is a quality macro. Perhaps one of the difficulties is that it is somewhat inbetween a full on macro and a wider context shot. Dragonflies are hard in that way because they are so large. It's hard to get them all in focus for one thing (although you choose right to focus on the eyes and not wings) and if you go for the zoom-factor "wow" you leave a lot of the bug out (see my last FS) which sometimes isn't the point. I think you did well on this one.

I'm not a big fan of the "bug on flower" routine, but I really like this shot, especially because its nice and sharp, and the detail in the Dragonfly is well captured. Good shot!
