Actually it is very well done, nice saturated colors , sharp. You were spot on when you mentioned not very exciting. Against the many landscapes & seascapes , it is really tough.
To improve futher I recommend that you change the composition a little include more of the sky. For the record I rated this a 6.

Don't fret, yours shots are definitely improving. My recomendations, shoot more , study the top pics in the challenge. As I have found in my participation , selecting the right shot for the challenge is a big part of whether we do well or not...
