I liked tones in it, but because I do not have much understanding of photography it would be difficult to make any helpful comment. It is good photo though. |

Pretty much what glad2badad said, especially about your photo's strengths. |

I like the lines that the edge of the mountain creates. The color of the mountains against the blue sky also works well.
The primary subject to me is the moon. That's the first thing that gets my attention. The mountain hillsides are quite busy and there's nothing to lock onto...so to the moon I go. :) Problem is, the moon seems oversharpened and gives it an almost artificial look, like it was cut & pasted in from somewhere else.
While some may say that the image is too compositionally centered, I think it adds some balance. If the moon had been higher in the sky, then I may have considered cropping to remove some of the lower half of the photo.
All JMO of course. :-D |

That is a really nice sky; I think cropping it so that more sky and less mountains would have helped the strength of this shot. Also, the moon just looks odd to me. Almost like a cartoon stuck in there. I don't know how you processed it, but if you could have kept some of the details there, and in the mountains I think it would have more depth. As it is now, the straight moon and sky look a bit flat, and the mountains a bit contrasty. |

There's not a lot I can add to the very constructive comments below - perhaps you could have made the sunlight on the rocks pop out a little bit more in contrast to the sky? The composition is nice though I wonder if you could have been a bit more daring and given us some negative space in the sky? Just an idea. |

Colors are great subject is great. I think what is going on here is the mountains. The view seems too pulled back and there is probably too much busyness at a fine detail level. I think to some extent the mountains and moon are fighting for dominance as the subject. perhaps cropping in a bit, so that the moon is clearly the subject would help some. The processing of the colors is really good, it has a lot of "pow" to it in that area. |

Actually it is very well done, nice saturated colors , sharp. You were spot on when you mentioned not very exciting. Against the many landscapes & seascapes , it is really tough.
To improve futher I recommend that you change the composition a little include more of the sky. For the record I rated this a 6.
Don't fret, yours shots are definitely improving. My recomendations, shoot more , study the top pics in the challenge. As I have found in my participation , selecting the right shot for the challenge is a big part of whether we do well or not... |

I think the the first thing that I notice in this shot is that it has the apperance of being oof or lacking any sharpness in the mountain area. I also feel the moon is looks pixilated. I think that the mountain line running dead center makes the picture a bit dull, maybe cropping the top or the bottom to put it more in the thirds could help the shot. I do like the blue sky but there seems to be some banding, try to tone down the curves or the hue/saturation to minimize that issue. Landscape moon shots are somewhat difficult b/c the moon appears much bigger in person than it will ever appear in the photo unless minipulated. Trevor~ |
