Remarks: the technical marks are high here, because, IMHO, the lack of sharpness, tonal gradation and lustre support the ambience and energy of this remarkable image. Great jazz, strongest in challenge.

Ah yes, Arbutus, a handsome tree that never sheds its leaves. Planted one of these quite a ways off the ocean last year. It's doing well, with plenty of drainage.

Remarks: A decent night shot, well ordered in every respect and not without emotional impact or sense. I enjoyed the absence of blown highlights so common to this genre.

Remarks: A poet should not give into sentiment. He should deal real feelings.
His is, after all, the language of poetry and not the poetry of language.

Ah, what texture, what light, what form! What an exquisite aesthetic.
Now make another one.

This is so good, especially the women's folded hands... all the broken stone forms...
I wonder what it would be like at a greater proximity or cropped to leave nothing but the wide foreground with the two solitudes in the third...
The balconies and sky are, in my view, redundant to the story told here. I'd rather ponder the humanity against the stony evidence of centuries.

It's not that I seek to find fault in such a moving image. It's just that I'm awake now, after having looked, with a heightened sense of it. :-)
