Darcy & Leavesby TerramarComment: Cute idea, but I find the selective desaturation too unnatural. Also, the highlights on her face are a bit too bright. |

Distance & Lengthby SJCarterComment: Tonal range and composition is just wonderful. But there's something weird going on with the trees in the middle. They look like the result of a postprocessing mistake, like if you scale down without using any interpolation, or maybe low quality sharpening? 7 (would be a 10 without the artifacts) |

Death & Loveby dewedComment: Beautifully done! Full of emotion, and technically solid. Only change I'd make is to crop a little of the left. 9 |

Evolve by grigrigirlComment: Very creative! My on nit to pick is the sharp ragged shadow along her jaw. 7 |

On the Prowlby toddheadComment: Great expression! Wish her face were really sharp. I would also have gone with a looser crop at the top of the frame, getting the curve of bottom in the frame. But lighting and shallow DOF is very good. 7 |

A Simple Loveby ArtysteComment: This one gets the only 10 I'm giving out in this challenge. It's the simplicity of the image and the baby's eyes that have me hooked. The perfect smoothness of their skin contrasts beautifully with the only other texture in the image, the unruly hair. You should be very proud of this exquisite image. |

Nature's perfect designby DogAngelComment: Wonderful tonal range! Could be a text-book example on why less saturation sometimes works better than more.
The texture of her freckles and the moss is also a great combination. The unruly hair is a nice touch, totally appropriate for the natural surroundings. Not thrilled about the bland expression, but can't think of a more appropriate one. 9 |

Jane Doeby NazgulComment: One of the best studio shots in this challenge. The low-key lighting is intruiging and the strong diagonal composition is very effective. The tilt to the image is allso a great idea, although I find I prefer cropping a bit off the top and right to prevent the feel that she is sliding out of the frame! The glints on her toenails are an excellent touch, but makes me want to see glints from her eyes too, to keep the symmetry. 9 |

Just thinkingby aKiwiComment: A lovely image that makes excellent use of natural surroundings (in contrast to the many studio shots in this challenge). The contrast is a bit high for my taste, and although I'm definitely a fan of B&W, I can imagine this being even better in muted color (contrasting the skin color with a reflected blue sky?) 8 |
