Neon Coca Colaby flip89Comment: Interesting concept. I would suggest that taking exposure from a grey card (or maybe the yellow bottle) would have yielded a better exposure. As it is, you have one blown out bottle, and one bottle nearly hidden in shadow. A way to get around reading from a gray card is to trick the meter with your EV setting. |

Natural Neonby JadeComment: You've captured the neon colors but it appears to be at the expense of the image. The flower appears very processed (oversaturated, perhaps?). I think the extreme post-processing would have worked with a tighter crop--perhaps just the edge of the flower and some of the yellow? It would create a more dynamic composition which could carry the weight of the digital processing. As it is now, the composition, showing the flower in it's entirety in it's environment, is too natural for the unnatural effect. I hope I'm making my point well. ;-D |

fading into the past...by _wu_Comment: This is an interesting abstract. I can't help thinking the black cap (or whatever it is) intererrupts the flow a bit. I think if it was a solid black circle---if it didn't have the glares and the line bisecting it, it would form an interesting coil or swirl shape accenting the green. That is a problem which is easily fixed with the clone tool, once the challenge is over. |

20 cents neonby PhileineComment: Very nice abstract study. I like the subtle play of light on the coils. Or at least the appearance of light. A second glance makes me think the coils are somewhat marblelized. Either way, it works. |

Ferris Wheelby BeeGeeComment: Very good motion blur capture. I like the simple composition and the black background. I'm left kind of wanting to see the circle completed, however. This may have been impossible to achieve while retaining the simple background, or the cropping may just be what you wanted to see when you made the shot. It's just my opinion. It's a striking shot. |

FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIESby SDWComment: This building has potentional as good subject matter. However, the cars in the parking lot, and the big chunk of the middle section of the building take up the majority of the picture frame without adding much. The middle section could perhaps be interesting if we could see people walking past (I can't tell if that is actually a passageway, it appears to be). My suggestion would be to return and focus on the tower of spiral lights at the right of the building, since that seems to have the biggest payoff in terms of interest. And by all means, move in closer to your subject and eliminate the distractions. |

Trippy Neonby mrwaffles989Comment: Interesting. I wonder if you tried viewing it at different rotations. For some reason, I'm wanting to see how this looks placed horizontally. I think it is because it has a wave-like effect and my eye is slightly disturbed by 'waves' flowing up. Of course, you might be seeing it as something else. If is funny how once the brain locks onto a form in an abstract (like seeing shapes in clouds) it is hard to get that one form out of one's mind. :-D I like the colors very much and the fact that it is not so blurred as to elimnate some lovely lines. |

Neon Wineby smartypantsComment: This is rather stunning. It has the feel of a Spanish-Grease shot. I wonder if I'm right. I'd love to know how the brilliant star effect was achieved? A starlight filter? Great color. I really like the gradiations of color created in the shadow of the glass and the cobalt blue reflection on the glass. Blue and green look wonderful together. This is an Open challenge so cloning isn't allowed but later on, I would clone out the brightest white reflection spots on the glass-- the one on the nearest rim and the large one that is 'floating' inside the glass. |
