Mountain Manby striderx77Comment: I like the composition and the image quality is lovely. If it hadn't been for the title I would not have realized there was a person in the shot. He is just to small to make any sort of impact in the composition. To me, even knowing he is there, he just looks like an rock. It almost would have been better to clone him out of the shot, IMO. |

A Photo Opportunityby milo655321Comment: I really like the spontainaity of this shot. The great thing is you haven't sacrificed image quality to capture it. I love how the monk(?)is just casually taking his photo as if this is something that happens every day. |

The Momentby hardwaybetsComment: I like the spontaneous capture but I would like to see this bigger. It's hard to get an idea of the image quality from this size. I don't like the sepia tone. I'd rather see this in truer black and white. |

Windby MadMan2kComment: I think a little motion blur would have helped this, especially taking the title into consideration. This appears rather static to me. I'm torn regarding the composition. Part of me likes the expanse of open road ahead of her but part of me wants that motion blur with her leaving the road behind her. The difference is emotional. In this composition, the smallness of her bike, the expanse of open road before her, and the frozen capture of the action, she appears hesitant. The wind blowing her hair is barely discernable and isn't working hard to convey a sense of motion. If you had waitied until she was further away and used a slower shutter speed to create some blur this would (possibly) have created more of a mood of freedom and the idea that she is 'riding like the wind'. This mood seems more appropriate for a portrait of childhood. |

First Christmasby nards656Comment: This is a very nice family album shot. It is well composed but it verges on snapshot for me. I think the big problem is you didn't capture a catch light in her eyes. |

Twistedby hannekeComment: Scary. I think that even though this is meant to disturb, we should still be able to see a catch light in the eyes (think of an evil glint in the eyes). I have a strong aversion to the sight of skin being covered in makeup or paint that dates back to early childhood but this doesn't repell me as much as this type of effort on DPC usually does. This is a good thing. I like composition and the texture of the peeling makeup. |

The Calm Afterby hideoutComment: This is refreshing on two levels--it is an unusual landscape and an unusual pet portrait. You have managed to break away from two cliches in one shot. Also, it looks great. Kudos! |

Jaapby PanoComment: Didn't I see this in a recent American commercial? Still, it's a witty portrait and well done. I like the contrast of the gold frame against the blue sky. I'm guessing by the name of the subect this isn't American anyway. :D |

Emotionsby DeniseBernadetteComment: Nice capture of his/her expression. Good catch light in the eyes. A problem I have is I feel like I'm seeing more detail in the area behind the chimmp than I am in its hair (fur?). |
