In the Roughby Kari48Comment: this needs to be lit better to really get a sense of the texture of the gravel (sidelighting is the key to enhancing texture). This looks a bit overexposed. The focus should be sharp on the entire image (so for a macro you need to point the camera straight down) to really get the graphic abstract quality of the gravel. |

Groovin' with macroby BosborneComment: There isn't enough sharp detail and the strong glare on the vinyl is a detraction more than a design feature, in my opinion. There just isn't enough going on here to grab my interest. |

Reflectionsby pmichaudComment: The reflections look mostly like glare to me, except for the foremost puddle. |

Aqua Puraby TejComment: Very nice. Just a nit--It's cropped a bit to close at the bottom. |

Pollen Cone After the Rainby RolandBComment: I find this unpleasant. It's an unique approach to the challenge though. A bit too much glare in the water.
edited after votingUpon reading the other comments and actually reading the title, I realize that the object in the water is not in fact a cooked chicken wing, which I swear I thought it was. It still looks like that to me but I thought I should clarify why I thought the image was unpleasant. :D Message edited by author 2006-04-03 11:30:16. |

Pavement Artistby e301Comment: Interesting approach to the challenge. A bit busy though. My eye is drawn more toward the iron fence in the background which leads me to the boring buildings beyond it. I feel like the reflection should be the focal point but it has to compete to much with the busy background. |

swansby cll300661Comment: A bit ho-hum. The water has to much glare I think. Sometimes, stopping down your exposure can help with this, if you don't have a neutral density or polarizing filter (it's what I do with my dinky camera). |

Peanut Butter & Jellies??by Qwest30Comment: This is one of those set-ups that has only one function--meeting the challenge. While this is a photo of shoes, and there is some creativity behind the idea, ultimately, it is the type of shot that has no place outside the very narrow confines of this one challenge. This type of photograph doesn't seem to consider asthetic values at all. Why would someone actually want to view this photograph? I'm not asking this to be sarcastic. This is something every member should ask themselves before submitting to any challenge. |
