Beautiful Gaze by Window Lightby MontereykiddoComment: Nice work; I like that I can see the window in full in the reflections. Everything in the shot is sacrificed to those eyes, which is both a good and a bad thing: they're worth it, first, but also I feel your shot lacks some depth because of that single point of real interest. |

Great Daneby DiscraftComment: I suspect this is a fine portrait, but I think your processing for this medium has let the shot down; there is obviously definition present in all areas of the shot, but I rather think the blacks of the dog's fur have been taken too far towards the black fo the background to make good viewing; certainly around the eyes it's very difficult to make out any kind of expression, as everything tends towards the same black. It's a difficult balance to make, especially for web display, where you also have to contend with the variety of other people's monitors. That said, I think you definitely needed to bring the dark fur areas forward from the background more. |

first light by whiteroomComment: An extraordinary photograph - as you must have know in the moment you pressed the shutter release. It has the strengths of great wildlife photography along with the strength of the apocalyptic scene you've found. In the last moments of the earth, the great beasts will walk again. Marvellous stuff. |

The rideby ergoComment: Top photograph - this I really like. It has closeness, rather than the detachment of so many of these silhouettes - a sense of involvement, of presence. The processing/tonality harks back to an older approach, like some of the eastern european masters of the thirties. Beautifully done. |

Dogwalkerby pitsamanComment: The pick of the bunch so far. Great processing and tonality, composition. intersting approach to challenge also. |

Amish Sunsetby audinutComment: Perhaps it's just me, but it seems slightly perverse to be taking digital photographs of Amish country. Intriguing shot, though, and processing |

Love In Black & Whiteby DiscraftComment: I've never seen this graphic trick with hands before, and now two ... a proper silhouette, and excellently done; I would have more interest in frame to give top marks - more reality, less studio. |

Fishing by the Lighthouseby pedahel7Comment: Very close to being a lovely shot - very. Perhaps just letting the guy take one more step would have clinched it? I feel that he's so dominated by the lighthouse that he really needs to poccupy a terribly strong area of frame to compete for our attention; I would love for his shadow to have paralleled the motion through frame of the lighthouse's shadow. But there's a lot of good things here - don't be put down by my longing for perfection from you :-) |

Summit...by TerramarComment: Neat and clean, works well, although the idea is a touch straightforward perhaps. |

Pampas sunsetby tasha4pawsComment: I find the strangth of this image in the light at the fringes of the grasses, which somewhat works against the idea of silhouettte I fear. It's a fine shot, however, certainly worthy off placing well in this company; though it perhaps lacks that edge of the very special - some, perhaps compositional, element to contrast the delicate shapes of the grasses, to put them into context. |
