First of all, everything but the trees looks blue, not green. Second - there is just too much going on here and no sky!

Greetings from the Critique Club
Hi Richard!

Composition
A shooter (to answer someone's question) is the person who's flicking the marbles into each other. In this case, I answered under composition because I'd love to see the whole shooting thumb (and yes, clean it).

Color
The colors are good, but the dark blue on the right blends with the black background. Otherwise, it's good.

Focus
I like the focus on this shot - but it's a bit TOO sharp here - shows the dust specs and dirt.

Lighting
The light is a bit harsh - direct lighting with the reflection doesn't work for me here. Try diffusing - eliminate the spots.

Subject matter
I love how you found the yellow as swirls - not using a different marble. Nice work there. I like the hand included - you know the only problems there.

Overall
Down from your previous shoots - but mostly because of lighting and dirt. Check, check, check! Studio shots need to be as good as you can get them - everything is under your control.

Happy shooting!

M

Hi Mike!

Composition
The legos are so messy and the jacket is hung up so nice and neat. I'd have knocked the chair over, strewn the jacket on the ground and had a kid passed out in the middle...but that's just me! lol Anyways - it's a good setup here.

Color
Unreal beautiful colors! I even like the border, as I said in my comment during the challenge!

Lighting
I like it - except for the diagonal shadow along the left. Too bright and you blow this shot out, too dark and the vibrancy is lost from the colors - beautiful medium here!

Subject matter
When I think bright colors, and primaries, I think children too - good setup, obviously meets the challenge, and does it very well.

Overall
Congrats on the pic and the above average score. Keep shooting!

Hello Pam, nice to meet you! *rofl*

Composition
I like that the composition is spilling into and not out of the page. So often these little things get ignored. I like that the spillage looks like grapes - only hanging the wrong way in this case - still cool. :) Also - you cut off the end of the glass. Intent or space?

Color
Red tint makes this elegant - so does the ribbon. Your marbles don't lend much in colors, but they do contrast with your bg.

Focus
A bit soft, but I don't think that's a problem. I disagree that it's tack sharp, but that's just me.

Lighting
Beautiful, perfect lighting all except the base of the glass where it meets the neck. Hard to eliminate though.

Subject matter
Glass, glass, all around, but not a drop to drink (from). I like the marbles spilling, instead of some liquid - it gives the feel of something out of the ordinary. It's very nice!

Overall
You shot this on your bed? Why wasn't I there?

You SHOULD be proud of this shot (and the 5.5 score isn't indicative of this shot).

Hiya Doug!

Composition
Gorgeous little girl. Her hands clasped is adorable. The grass at the bottom is a bit unnecessary, I think. Just a small issue.

Color
The colors are all there and this meets the challenge well. There are LOTS of colors here - it's a great idea.

Lighting
I like how you can see her face. Sometimes with hoods and hats, the light is obscured - but you have done a good job of keeping details visible. I like that the lighting is muted, looking like a good ole rainy day.

Subject matter
C'mon. It's almost cheating this kid is so adorable! Perfect subject.

Overall
This is the best kid under the umbrella shot I've ever seen! :) Seriously, I really love this shot, and I wish it had gotten over the 7 hump!

Ew! I like that some fell off - and I like the tiny bits of color you can see. The thing disgusts me though!

This is gorgeous. 10 no question - best be in the top 3. I would have run a light Neat Image on this to get the grain out of the green. Good luck!

Are they camera shy? :) I like the colors here - the shadow is almost completely gone, nice job. The inside part of the border doesn't help it. 10 anyways. Good luck!
