certainly demonstrates the challenge criteria and well shot but, it lacks something that gives it pizazz in some way or another. Not sure on what to say here that would have helped or made a difference.

Well, with the title, it makes sense and it's well shot but, I think had you caught one of them coming out of the car and the other two looking at her, it might have shown better the idea of being inside the car. I like the B&W/sepia tone to it!

Oooooo.....missed this one! Must have been during my "sanity hiatus" from this place ;).

The wind had a gentle feel to it that day when little Emma started off her day to play. She had put on her prettiest dress because she knew Bobby Douglas would also be wandering the woods that day, in search of some fun. Her long golden locks of hair, flew in the wind and shone in the sunlight like fine threads of spun gold. Wandering along her usual path, she found the clearing where she and Bobby usually met each Saturday morning and would spend the day, seeking treasures, pretending to be explorers.

She sat upon her swing, swaying happily in the solitude of the moment, unaware of anything or anyone else around her.

"Is that you, Bobby Douglas?" she called out, hearing the snapping of twigs coming from beside her.

There was silence, then the snap of a shutter from a camera.

"Why'd you take my picture?" Emma asked, unfamiliar with the woman taking her photograph.

"Because you're very pretty," the woman answered. "I just think that you're very pretty and I wanted to take a picture of you."

"MAMA!!!!" the little girl screamed, jumping from her swing and running into the woods as fast as her little legs could carry her.

Stunned at the little girl's reaction, the photographer slowly walked away and headed home.

It was days later, when the photo had been edited and entered into a photo challenge on a site called DPC before police showed up at her door.

"That's the PERVERT!" little Emma screamed!

The photographer made bail the next day, but her computer was confiscated, containing hundreds of pictures of lovely children in beautiful scenery or posed for cute shots. She has yet to stand trial but her lawyers will argue that she is simply entering DPC photography challenges. Prosecution has yet to comment. ;)

Lady Ettie...Earl's wife, was out shopping when she caught sight of a woman bearing a camera.

"Oooooo, you get that camera away from me, Woman!" she exclaimed with a look of total shock and disdain. "Don't you take that picture of me right now. I forgot to put on my mascara today!"

The lady photographer smiled and put the camera up to take the shot anyways.

"I'm serious now, Girl...don't you go takin' no picture of me without my mascara!"

Feeling a little odd now, the photographer lowered her camera for a moment. "Lady Ettie, you have so many colorful things on now, no one will notice that you're not wearing your mascara today."

Lady Ettie stood back for a moment and looked at the photographer as though she had no brains in her head.

"Why," Lady Ettie exclaimed with a puzzled look upon her face, "do you think that I am wearing all of this stuff?"

Confused, the photographer shrugged her shoulders, not knowing the answer.

"BECAUSE," Lady Ettie responded with a type of bewilderment at the photographer's stupidity...."people are so amazed by my clothing that they don't notice that I didn't put on my mascara, of course!"

I think the color version certainly did this shot justice and perhaps, you might have done well to have left it in color. It's sad that you felt that you needed to compromise the artistic view of this shot in favor of "technical perfection" as this truly is a beautiful photo as is here.

Congrats on the ribbon! It is a beautiful final product.

In reading your editing steps and how much time it took you to get to this fabulous point, would you be willing to post the original for us to see? (Still learning so, I'd love to see what a ribboner had to do in order to get to this point.:))
