Progress, yes. Definitely better. I like how the vertical lines of the bottles and the vertical lines on the wall work together. The objects also seem much more naturally placed on the chest than they did on the fuzzy thing. The patterns showing through the bottles, especially the rusty plate thing, are possibly a bit distracting. And you need a bit more light and contrast, especially on the bottle on the right, although this is better than the last one. Maybe try a large piece of white paper on the right side, just outside the shot, to reflect the light coming from the left back into the shot.

I can see someone giving it a 9 or 10, because it is indeed a cool image. What I can't fathom is the 69 4's and 5's. The image is anything but average. I would expect a bunch of votes on both the high and low end (mostly low, because I can't see how it possibly meets the challenge), but not much in the middle.

I really quite like this one. I like the selective focus on her head, and the nest, then the movement of the wing and body. I also like that she seems to be looking right at you. It's really pretty cool.

On the sharpening, when I'm shooting jpeg on my D800, I have a custom mode set up that's basically camera neutral, with sharpening turned completely off. I can control the sharpening much better on my computer if I don't have to deal with an image that's coming out of the camera pre-sharpened. For a shot like this, though, I'd probably shoot in raw.

Oh. You're in Florida. Our palm trees are different out here...

Anyway, this is nice. Lots of shape and texture, without being overly sharp or having other artifacts.
