Gang Greenby scab-labComment: Those apples make me hungry. Like your choice of a background. Your sidelighting is a good source of lighting for this photograph. The apples are a really nice green. I don't know why, but your apples seem somewhat blurry, did you do this on purpose? or is it because you enlarged it too much? I like the brown color of the basket. |

Wet Paintby GotchaComment: Composition is quite good, certainly meets the Challenge
Visual impact is great with nice colors of green and the red on that ladder thing.
Focus is good, nice and sharp, great idea for a photo. Kinda wished you had shown the whole tower on that upper window.

The pattern is in the textureby xertionComment: Visual impact is pleasant
Focus is good; Lighting looks fine
Color is just right
But why leave the two corners, upper and lower like this, why not crop them out all the way? |

Color is fine, but why is your hand behind it? It spoils the photograph.

Four Leaf Avacadoby EJComment: Composition is good, nice idea for the Challenge.
Visual impact is pleasant
Focus is good; Lighting looks fine but there is a lot of shadow beneath the avacado.
Color is nice and green, however, could you not have straightened out the cover underneath the avocado? Looks rather messy left this way.

The Royal Gorgeby vtruanComment: The Royal Gorge, by vtruan
Greetings: Critique by Silver Fox
Interesting composition; gorgeous scenery taken during the daylight hours with the bright sun shining off the Gorge walls doesn\'t allow you much room to manipulate your settings with all that brightness.
I like the way you\'ve tried to frame the photograph with the tree below you and the branch above you, a very good idea, using nature this way.
Very interesting having all that snow on the other side of the Gorge and the Sun shining on the opposite side. Overall, the contrast and depth of field are great, and your focusing is right on. . .
This is a nice looking bridge with a great looking landscape, but I think you\'ve taken a larger shot than needed, getting the bridge lost with it\'s surroundings. I wonder perhaps if you should have zoomed in and presented the bridge a little more on it\'s own, and perhaps cut out the trees. It\'s really hard to say, because I wasn\'t there taking this photograph, you were.
One thing that I\'ve learned in taking photographs of people and landscapes is to keep it simple, no distractions in the background or foreground and keep your camera focused on that which caught your eye to start with. Good luck on your next Challenge.
Regards,
Ed

Critique by Silver Fox.
I think it fits the Challenge nicely.
I had a hard time counting the rings originally, and still again this second time, whether it's all that oil from the chain saw or the lighting that was used.
It's a very unusual cut of wood, different shape towards the right hand side as you look at it.
I like the various colours of the wood that you were able to capture, and it is slightly out of focus, once again perhaps due to the excess oil/wet darkness not allowing a good sharpness to the centre or the fuzzy bark and end cuts.
I think you were also a bit quick with your cropping the way you cut off the bottom of the log so sharply.
