The Royal Gorge, by vtruan
Greetings: Critique by Silver Fox

Interesting composition; gorgeous scenery taken during the daylight hours with the bright sun shining off the Gorge walls doesn\'t allow you much room to manipulate your settings with all that brightness.

I like the way you\'ve tried to frame the photograph with the tree below you and the branch above you, a very good idea, using nature this way.

Very interesting having all that snow on the other side of the Gorge and the Sun shining on the opposite side. Overall, the contrast and depth of field are great, and your focusing is right on. . .

This is a nice looking bridge with a great looking landscape, but I think you\'ve taken a larger shot than needed, getting the bridge lost with it\'s surroundings. I wonder perhaps if you should have zoomed in and presented the bridge a little more on it\'s own, and perhaps cut out the trees. It\'s really hard to say, because I wasn\'t there taking this photograph, you were.

One thing that I\'ve learned in taking photographs of people and landscapes is to keep it simple, no distractions in the background or foreground and keep your camera focused on that which caught your eye to start with. Good luck on your next Challenge.
Regards,
Ed

This is a gorgeous scene and a cool bridge. The color of the snow though is neon blue and that is not helping. The shot looks sort of grainy as well. Not grainy like a high ISO grainy, but like a very large picture was made very small. or maybe one too many sharpens. I'm not sure, but it doesn't look "right" Awesome scene though that is definitely worth photographing

Great landscape, but it overpowers the bridge.

Holy Sh*t thats scary looking. Where is that?

It's a really beautiful photograph, but it's so far away from the bridge that you can't comment very much on the bridge, other than it's a long one, isn't it?
Great depth, great colours.

Great color! Seems a bit oversharpened to me.

I would NOT want to cross that bridge.

I see where you are going with this, comparing the tiny bridge with the awesomeness of the gorge -- but in this case, I think the bridge might be too teeny. You can barely see it, and definitely can't really tell that it's the subject of the photo.

and you dared to stand on the EDGE for this shot! boy! you are a dedicated dpc'er!
what a view.. but how scary!
the bridge itself blends right in, and is difficult to see.

Wow, I'd freak going over that bridge. It's so high. That's really amazing... great shot!

Good composition, showing the valley below tells the function and technical achievement of the bridge. Adding the tree in the foreground gives a reference judge the distances.
Only negative is about the harsh light, causing highlight blowouts and lack of contrasts in certain area's of the image. Would look a lot better with softer early morning or evening light.

Wow -- this would be an awesome entry for the "From Above" challenge, too! Nice job... I'm always amazed at man's ingenuity when I see something like this. I can't even imagine how that thing was built!
