This shot begs for perfect symmetry in order to work, and it's not happening. The rope off the left side sort of throws the balance off. Also looks like you might have focused on the boat not the rope. Anyway, the tope itself looks good and I wish I could see more detail on it. higher contrast maybe? nice work.

Torment

Nice concept. Torment here is coming across more like 'how much longer is this going to take' due to the model's facial expression. Maybe that's the torment. Lighting here is a bit flat. There's just enough detail on the left side to drag my eye to it, but not enough detail there for my eye to be interested in what it finds. Some harsher lighting or lighting from a different angle might have worked better so that the left side fades to black. Might have overdone it a bit on the sheer volume of rope here, it is making the photo very busy. but for all of that, this isn't a bad shot and I think if you just kept trying different approaches you'd probably end up with a really killer photo once everything came together. Nice work.

Old Rope

I like the post processing here. There is a lot going on in this shot. I think it would have benefited from being shot from a different angle and/or moving the ropes around so that there is more shadow play obvious to the eye. Composed like it is, it borders on being innundated with middle tone grays with a few oddly placed spots of black here and there. Would also like to see more contrast just to get the details on that post and within the rope itself to jump out.

I like the texture of the pulley here and the colors work well together. Looks a little grainy or possibly oversharp, not sure. Maybe that was your intent but it doens't work for me. Composition-wise it hurts this photo a little to have the pulley cropped off on the right side. Would also have moved that big rope on the right out of the way (if possible). nice dof here blurring out the rear ropes.

Not bad but not really engaging either. Not enough detail to be a solid shot, too much detail to be a good abstract. Not saying this shot sucks, but it just doesn't do it for me. Too much going on and nothing to focus on.

Excellent. I love the shadow lines on the dog and what a perfect exposure. Great DoF too (says the dog lover, cat hater).
