Duck (by HarryY)by PatsfanComment: Lot of pixelation, especially in the patch of blue adjacent to its beak. I'd dial the saturation down a good deal, at least on those background areas. |

His Roadby Dmosier21Comment: Bad crop, bad lighting, boring subject, subject not overtly related to a 'road' in the literal sense, religious props attract low votes like dog poo attracts flies.
While it's a shame that only a literal representation of a road seemed to have a chance of doing well in the challenge, you should take a look at any of the top 10 shots and list out what it is you like about them and in what ways they differ from this shot. That exercise will teach you quite a bit and your next entry will no doubt benefit from it. Message edited by author 2008-09-03 00:53:22. |

And then there was light...by PrashComment: I was interested to see what you'd entered after receiving your comment on my image asking 'where is the abstraction'. To answer your question, it was an abstract of shapes and gradients of light and shadow. As opposed to, say, a snapshot of a statue that happened to be sitting around the house. |

~ Seahorse ~by hihosilverComment: Great shot. Could use just a hint more contrast to me, but I love the abstract nature which doesn't completely obliterate the subject but rather enhances it on so many levels. |

Kiddos.jpgby Patrick_RComment: Lol the boy looks like there's a xbox somewhere he'd rather be sitting in front of. Very delicate lighting here, though the left edge of the boy's face is a bit heavy on the shadows. Wider crop might let this breathe a bit also (assuming this was cropped). OVerall really nice. |

Girl Oneby Pug-HComment: Great exposure on this. I like it because there's just so much detail in the shot, you can stare at it and let your eye wander here and there. |

Paulieby timfythetooComment: What a long trip from ukrainian emmigrant to harley guy. His face has the lines that tell every mile of it. Great shot. |
