This is my first entry in any photography contest ever. I tried to use my FujiFilm FinePix S5100 (not an SLR) to capture and convey an abstraction of how powerful light can be with forms.. especially in absence of colors.

The form depicted is of a metallic sculpture of Lord Vishnu from ancient Hindu mythology. The lighting is all natural (room lighting from the kitchen on the sculpture's right as it is placed on the dining table). All the post processing there is, was done to improve contrast, remove one pixel wide speckle from the background (pixel location 87, 184 from the processed image), and scale the original image to the allowed dimensions.

In my opinion, this picture symbolizes all the good this world has (the light), reaching out to the best of human nature (the aesthetic face).

I hope you like it:-)

I like the way the texture pops on this. You caught some nice light. I'm not caring for the way the main subject that my eye is led to is stuffed way over in the corner. It is facing further out of the frame and leading my eye out of the frame as well.
