Nice choice! I think it would be more believeable if the pier lower left was cropped out, and the only thing in the photo, was the busted up end of the pier and the deserted boat! wow, what an impact that makes when i crop up and take out the red colored boards! nice job just the same. very nice choice for this challenge.

What an appropriate choice for this challenge! to me it is the perfect choice! very well done, love the orange color left on this car that is deserted forgotten and desolate, and the rest in black and white.
FABULOUS~

Abandon

i think the lighting on this, does not give me the feeling it is abandoned, if it was in good lighting, and the darkness was limited to the windows and door, it would make me feel that all that much more, the lighting is very creative and the angle nice, but, i could be wrong, i just dont see abandoned maybe becouse of the lack of detail due to the creative shadowing that otherwise is fabulous.

The Empty Chicken Coop

Comment:
i think if this was not so close up and not such a creative angle i would get that feeling of an empty coop, right now as is, i dont get that feeling, most likely due to the small amount of the building being visible.
i may be wrong or offbase as we all see things differently and comprehend different, so hopefully i dont offend.
i would advise photo this from further back allowing us to see more of the building, in lonliness and maybe even neglect.

This captures the word to a tee, what a twisted mess of homes and property, how sad for people, to bad they cant choose to live more inland, hard to do i am sure as living waterside is a wonderful thing, but, all things come with risk.
hopefully the rebuilding has started.
You captured this well therefore a high score for you.

a very good photo to depict this word, nice choice and giving that sense and a sense of sadness, it really would make an impact if the watch that the boy was holding, i assume daddy`s watch, was more in focus, all in all a very nice job, thank you for sharing this special sad moment.

i am not sure i see desolation here, unless i am thinking differently as many of us do and we all picture things differently. I am trying very hard to judge fairly, so i will go middle road on this one, please for give me if i am offbase.
it is a cute picture of a cat who looks like a little devil! LOL
the leash does not give the feeling of desolate, or, the food dishes in the background, there is a lot of clutter that gives one the sense of a home.
i think an alley might be a better setting?

Fog, lights

the word desolate is a very lonely one, and this photo i think comes pretty darned near, the fog is a perfect touch to give that feeling and the lamp post is very well presented and, in a great angle, i will give this a high score becouse it is pretty close to what i picture desolate to be.

oh wow, i would love to see one of these, it is a bit hard to see him, is there anyway to zoom in on him in your photo program?
otherwise a better zooming in with your cam and a closer crop would possibly make him stand out more.
black is very hard to foto, i know, i have black and white dogs!
