Great job! This has some great qualities, the color, the movement of the waves against a still foreground subject in silhoutte. It just isn't exciting, as this has been done again and again. But I do give you credit for technical merit, and for meeting the challenge without forcing me to have to figure out how. Raising my original score from a 5 to a 6.

Great job! A very nice photo with a couple of things to draw me back with the scoring. First, the good things. I liked the continuity of the color of the sky and water. I liked the clarity of the grains of sand. I loved the vicious movement of the crashing wave. What I didn't like was the fact that the highlight around the rock in the foreground makes the photo look like you are standing in a hole when you took it. Just an optical illusion I'm sure, as a result of the highlight. Secondly, I don't like how the remnants of the waves appear to be forces, and look like white lines (between the stone and the water line). But you have met the challenge without leaving me to have to figure out how you met the theme. I appreciate that. Raising my original score from a 5 to a 6.

Great job! I love black and white photos, and this one is executed very nicely. The illusion of distance, with a hazy feel make this one extra nice. Just not as exciting as some of the other entries in comparison. But nice still. And thanks for submitting an entry that meets the challenge without causing me frustration in figuring out how. Raising original score from a 5 to a 6.

Great job! I loved the soft tonal quality of this shot, with the slightest hint of color coming from the sky. I love the way that the sand emits the wetness from the waves that have once covered it. I wish there was a little more color and definition (or less processing) in the water itself, as it appears to be fog more than it is water. But a great job in keeping with the theme, and making a photo that I don't have to fight to figure out how you met the challenge. I'm raising my original score from a 5 to a 7.

Great job! This photo has great character and quality, however, it's been done and redone, that it just isn't interesting any more. Doesn't mean it's not pretty, and you do deserve technical merit. I'm just not interested. But you did meet the challenge without leaving me to have to figure out how it fits the theme, and it is an above average shot. Raising my original score from a 5 to a 6.

Great job! A very pretty photo, great technical merit. There are a couple of things that made me not vote too high for this one though.

First is that the business of the bark on the tree, and the business of the bird's plummage make this a bit TOO busy overall to enjoy the quality of either the bird or the log.

Secondly, a water shot, or even a shoreline shot, does not always mean 'beach' in my opinion. And meeting the challenge, to me, is the first and most important thing, if that isn't done, then anything else is unimportant. Doesn't mean it's not a beautiful and creative shot, because in this case, it absolutely is! I do love it! I went back and forth on how to score your pic, but I do vote low for those that I don't think meet the challenge, so to be consistant, I am voting this lower than I want for the reasons stated above.

Great job! A very interesting shot, a great capture of motion. And the quality of the water is awesome, it's so clear and warm looking. I'm raising my vote from the original 5 that I gave you, to a 7, as it's above average, just not all THAT interesting. But thanks for meetng the challenge, without leaving me to have to struggle to figure out how it meets the theme.

Great job! I love the clarity and color and movement of the water. You did a great job in capturing that wave crashing without losing any of it's intensity or beauty. Very pretty. Great job, and although I love the intesity of the 'color' in this one, I just don't get the water part, it's too hard to tell it's really water, and hints that it's fog. It's not enough of either one to be able to tell. I gave this a 5.

Great job! Unfortunately, although the technical merit deserves praise in this photo, it just isn't interesting enough for me to vote it any higher. I've seen this all too often, and the tennis ball doesn't help it out of the rut. Your title is very cute though! It's still above average, so I am raising my original vote form a 5 to a 6.
