There's a funny story that goes with this. I wandered over to Baker Beach this afternoon to try for this image.
I had forgotten that portions of the beach are clothing optional. Well, I pointed my lens firmly at the surf and the GG bridge. One guy kept his eye on me and would have been belligerent had my lens strayed. One guy was ready to make friends, offered me his email - I should write it in the sand maybe? - and said he'd pose however I'd like; just send him copies. I told NakedBob I was on assignment and needed to concentrate on my own subject. Eventually he went away. A third guy kept dancing through the surf in front of me (bleep!) He was NOT pretty so I didn't shoot his buns. Minus these distractions, I came up with my entry.

Processing: levels, curves, smart sharpen. Slight crop. I tossed out a whole bunch of potential winners that had sensor dust/boulders in the sky.

Fuuny as I was also going to shoot at Baker Beach, but decided it was such a nice day that I would walk down to the Cliffhouse and shoot from there.

Hey this looks familiar!! ALice, i had a great time at the GTG on sat. I am giving everyone a comment/critique who commented onmy image for the beach on the challenge and this is my 57th, yowsahs. I really like your shot and during the cahllenge I gave it a 7. One thing I would like to have seen was the end of the bridge on the right so it feels abit more complete. Other than that yours is great and has much more realistic colors then my entry. I actually have on shot from nearly this same spot at night, with the reflection in the sand. My shot was about two rocks over. Luckily the nudies were all gone when I got there. Thanks again for your comment.

Hey Alice...I think we must have been at Baker Beach the same day and almost at the same time. My shot was the Dog Wanted entry from Baker Beach and I saw all the same naked folks that you did...it wasn't pretty...hahahaha! I wonder if we passed each other.

Great job! This photo has great character and quality, however, it's been done and redone, that it just isn't interesting any more. Doesn't mean it's not pretty, and you do deserve technical merit. I'm just not interested. But you did meet the challenge without leaving me to have to figure out how it fits the theme, and it is an above average shot. Raising my original score from a 5 to a 6.

Nice the way that nature's small grandeur is placed before the engineering marvel made by humans. Well composed. 8.

The composition seems a little cramped. Maybe a little wider view would have helped. That being said, it is still a beautiful capture.

The wash in the foreground adds balance to this image. Good eye. A good overall shot but needs to be done differently (think "outside the box") to be sen as anything other than a shot of the bridge and ocean. Technically sound with DoF and colour rendition.

In my opinion, the bridge is too far up in the corner.

Perfect timing on getting that wave to come in as far as it did and make a great composition.

bridge upright not upright: a distraction. love the shapes of the waves

well, I should probably save this comment until after the voting, but have a look through the submissions...you'll find another shot from nearly this same location...that shot alone should give you plenty of incentive to try shooting here again

Technically this is a great shot and why shouldn't it be considering it is on every poster in San Francisco and we have all seen it a million times and therefore know exactly how to compose the image. It would be nice to see something a little more original but still good job on a tried and true subject.

Nice exposure of frothy water. Horizon line isn't quite straight. Crop out some of the left edge of photo.
