I like this as a wonderfully dated image. The contrasts are great, which with black and white is so very important. Compositionally it is great, the lines and curves leading the eye naturally around the image. It doesnt really conjure up any nostalgic feeling from me personally, but I'm sure it may with some people. Excellent photograph.

It's a little dark, but it captures the anticipation of action very well. The image is very clear, the focus is great, and I have to admit that the little cloud of dust near her foot and by the ball really makes the photo. Very nicely captured.

Having the helmet and upper torso of the 'main' player be in focus and the rest slightly out of it works well for this image. I'm not an expert of sports photography, and admit to not even reading much of the sports pages, but most of the images I recall always seem to be a select few players (perhaps it's a compositional thing), however, the fact that the frame is crowded by players emphasises the rush of the 'main' player. His struggle is obvious, the expression on his face suggests it, and the guy behind him looks like he's coming right for him too. This is a shot that makes me want to know what happened next, which would probably be explained in an accompanying article. It clearly demonstrates action, and dirty, strenous action at that. Very nicely captured.

I can understand your fear of people thinking it was posed but what a shame to do that to your title :( Anyways... the image itself is great! Very clear, compositionally good, the capture of action is superb. I especially like the expression on his face and the tension in his muscles. It certainly tells a story, although it looks like he safely made the catch. Another good thing (although it doesnt have any real merit) is that you have the perfect space at the top and on the left for a magazine title and blurb. I could see this on the cover of a magazine. Very nicely caught (pun intended!)

The sharpness is really what makes this stand out. It's very clear, the capture of action is superb, and the composition works well. He's in a position where it also makes you wonder if he's going to take a nosedive into the water at any second. It tells a story but also makes you want to know what happened next. Something that a sports shot in a newspaper/magazine would encourage people to read in an accompanying article. Very nicely shot.

The sharpness of the image is really what stands out. the fact that he's close enough to see his face, even though it is slightly shadowed, is good. Compositionally it is appealing, although shame the entire wave break/splash wasnt in the frame. An excellent image and wonderful capture of sport action.

It's good to see some humor in some of these shots! I like the textured background, the coloring of the bark and axe are good, and compositionally it is visually appealing. About the only thing I dont really care for is the border. In this particular photograph I feel like it invades my viewing of the photograph, possibly because the crop confines the eyes to that the entire shot and the border distracts from the areas where I need to look - if that makes sense.

The DOF on this is really good, and the sharpness of the pencil is equally as good. At first I thought the background was a lottery ticket, but thankfully the 'exam date' at the top isnt too blurred and can still be read, although it was clearly not a ticket after that first initial glance. It's a good image, meets the challenge.

An interesting take on the challenge, seeing it from the teacher's angle instead of the student. At first I wasnt too sure about the reflection in the window but it slowly grew on me. There does seem to be a white halo near the ledge and just under her chin that is a little distracting as my eyes are actually drawn to the reflection the most. The choice of black and white is good to set the broody mood of anticipation, or at least it comes across to me that she is not looking forward to being back at school from the lighting, pose, and choice of b&w. Overall it's a good image, I like it.

The choice of black and white seems to put a bit of a mood on the image, which I suppose could appropriately compliment the concentrated look on his face also. The wall background gives a nice contrast to the rest of the image. Unfortunately there isnt much detail on his face and so the shot relies a lot on his body language. It's a good shot, but I think I may have preferred it had it had some more drama, whether that be lighting, pose, or position in the frame.
