Literatureby Firstrich1Comment: I can see where you are trying for dramatic lighting, but the shadows on the right are just a little too dark and as such distract from the overall mood. Perhaps a soft light on the right could have lightened up that area just a little. As a still life goes, this is something different for me, but it works well. The contrasts on the book is good, it's just the background that could have done with a ltitle more tweaking. Overall it's a good shot. |

Forgottenby SonifoComment: This has such a great mood! The tones are wonderful, the use of sepia ages it nicely. The play of light/shadow is dramatic, the softness adds to the image of the teddy. No negatives that I can see, just wonderful! |

Wish Boneby JackoComment: I love the simplicity of this! And what an unusual item to see on a plate too. It's so off the wall and different I think it stands out the most. Who would have thought a chicken bone on a plate would look so 'pretty'. Great photo! |

Poisoned Appleby NatatorComment: There has been a lot of desat with one color photos recently, and I think that has made those type of images not have the usually high impact they can normally have. However, this is certainly more than just a desat with one color photo. The black/white background and square dish is certainly what makes this stand out. The leaves of the pineapple going off into the black is good too. The fruit arrangement is good, but I dont know, just something doesnt feel right about it. It's sharp, clear, clean, clever. I like it! |

Street lights - still lifeby bormicComment: Wow, those fruit are shiny! I really like the idea, it's very neat. Visually it's good, and clever. Technically it could be corrected with spot editing after the challenge. A few of the things I see that could, ideally, be changed are the light reflections on the apples and the light on the background near them. I assume the lighting for this was an overheard with a maglite (or similar) aimed at each of them? I hard similar problems when I was shooting an apple too! They can be very tough, esp the really shiny kind. I like this, bonus points for creativity! |

After the Shootby jamijcComment: This is humorous, which can be good. The inside of the orange is a little too bright, but the reflections on the glass seem minimum, although it also seems a little tilted. I'm not sure if you were going for the browned apple look, but I know they can do that after a while and usually lemon juice can help it stop browning up as quick if you werent. There are a few white specks on the background too, but in the 'normal' world those would have been easy to clean up with spot editing. It's not technically the best, but the unusual subject makes it stand out more. |

Just hangin' around.by NukktaComment: It almost looks like he has red eye! The image is fairly sharp for low light, composition is good, as is the lighting. The only negative is the stuffing coming from his right sleeve that is partly in, partly out of the frame. |

Pumpkin headby puyaComment: There are a couple of areas of the fire that are a little 'hot' (too bright white), and I assume the brown thing sticking up nearby is a tree stump. Despite the fairly low light, the image doesnt appear blurry, which is good. |

Halloween at mexican wayby cimarron98Comment: This is an interesting picture, very colorful, and it's always great to see an 'alternative' picture from another culture (another to me) as I find them fascinating. There are a lot of different perspectives going on and I can appreciate that it must have been hard to find just the right crop and get as much detail in as possible. |

burning pumpkinby claudiadfComment: There is an interesting texture and translucent luminosity to the pumpkin, certainly not one normally seen. It almost looks like it was photoshop created. The red glow is good, it's not too dark and not too bright. It's very close-up and shows the details well. |
