When boat masts take the world over...by blancericComment: Interesting composition and sky color. Fine detail shows up very clearly.
The way reviewers react to the sky will determine how well this image scores. If they like it it will do well. If they don't it will not.
A couple suggestions. Apply noise reduction to the sky and clone out remaining white specks to give it a very solid look. The visible electronic noise it now has is a distraction.
The thick wire on the far left at the very top should be cloned out. Unlike all the other major wires in the image this one's counterpart is not visible. That makes it appear unbalanced. The easiest thing to do is get rid of it.
Overall this is a pretty good picture. |

Imagining the Summitby neophyteComment: Good capture and decent quality photograph. Well composed with eye appealing colors.
Some reviewers will view this as a 'kid' picture more than a fantasy world and score it lower.
The image is a little on the low contrast side. It does not appear to have a proper black point set. Adjusting that will give the image more 'pop'. The clouds on the lower left are overexposed. |

The Timekeeperby GabrielComment: A creative and eye appealing composition. Perspective works and the general image technical quality id good. The rust and gold tones stand out very well and are appealing to the eye.
This image fits the challenge very well.
On the technical side there are a few hot spots on the gold items and there is some digital 'jaggies' on some of the strait edges.
verall this is a good image and probablty finish high. |

Dream Forestby vasilkovayaComment: Composition, framing and the idea is OK.
Your attempt to use blur to simulate a fantasy world will not work well for most reviewers and this image will score poorly. It might have worked better if you could have taken your picture with a longer exposure time on a tripod to have most everything but the natural movement of the people and trees be sharp and clear. Your idea just did not work. Sorry. |

Strange Orbit of a Strange Planetby sfaliceComment: Meets the challenge and is ga generally well executed capture. Solid blue background works well. Framing and composition are very good. Exposure and lighting mostly good. Shallow depth of field works well.
This image is pleasing to the human eye. It has a overexposed area o the close metal spiral near the upper left center of the frame, but it is not bad.
This is a very, very clean and simple image. It should get a very high score. Great job! |

Planet Marsby arnitComment: Great work with what likely is a much more mundate original. The clouds are distinct, dramatic, well focused and there are no overexposed areas. The way you have added a lot of viewer interest to the composition through lighting post-processing on the hillls is terrific.
This will meet the challenge for most reviewers.
The only technical flaw is the transition border between horizon and sky. It has haloing. It is common to have haloing show up when sky and ground separately have global processes applied to them. You can easily clone out that defect by selecting the sky only and expanding it a pixel or so if needed to include all the edge halloing and quickly cloning the edge to remove the defect. I always save selections by name so they can be brought back later specifically for this purpose.
Overall this is an excellent image that should score very well. |

Fairy Ballroomby emorgan49Comment: Nice idea that fits the challenge topic well. Color is generally OK.
Compositionally it lacks a central focal point. This composition would be improved tremendously if you could have had an actual 'fairy' model reflected as well. That would give the viewer a focal point and support your theme much better.
Other than the reflection this is a very ordinary view. It will not work well for some reviewers and they will give it a low score. |

A Soul Entering the Lightby skiefComment: Great clarity and detail, decent color and good use of the rule of thirds. Technical quality is superior.
It remains to be seen how voters will relate this to the challenge topic but will probably feel its technical merit outweighs any "meet the challenge" issues they might have.
Only a couple technical suggestions. This image would benefit if noise reduction is applied. It is particually apparent in the blue background. There are two tiny specks on the upper right edge of the jellyfish that are slight distractions. Even though they are real they should be cloned out.
Overall this is one of the very best images in the challenge and should finish very high. |

Chemical Purple Hazeby CLarson557Comment: A curious attempt at a fantasy world. Natural framing is right and you have nice clouds to work with.
Low technical quality will hurt its score. The blurriness of the tees will be interpreted as poor focus or an ill attempt at motion blur by most reviewers. Reviewers will also easily detect that your color is artificially added and that it does not look natural. It is most visible in the transition area to the trees where the purple color is much more intense in a way that does not happen in the real world. You see this all the time in DPC entries where the color is overdone. You have to work at it but there are techniques you can apply that will reduce that edge effect and make it look more natural.
You might argue that this is a fantasy world and not intended to be real. Most reviewers would reject that premise. Even in movies they demand plausibility. |

Above the Clouds ...by LadeeMComment: Nice framing and clouds. Composition is excellent.
Technical quality is the main issue most voters will have with this image. The moon is overexposed in the frame and that is a major distraction. Even with this overexposed area the image is still very low contrast and does not have a proper black point set. The tree silhouettes should be jet black. It needs to have noise reduction applied. |
