Nice arrangement. The way you use shallow DOF to draw the eye to the sharp focused meat yet convey the idea that everything else is supplimental to it is a wonderfully accomplished even if that was not your intent. It is a subtle touch that makes this a good image. On my monitor, which is recently calibrated, makes the composition look a little too dark in some facing areas. A soft light from the front left side would make it look better.

Most viewers will likely expect recipe images to be delicious looking foods arranged like the pictures you see in a Denny's Restaurant menu. This does not and coupled with poor focus will likely garner it a low score. A ground level perspective that is a closer, shows more of the predator and in better focus would score much better.

Interesting concept and choice of coals color to support the idea. Some voters may feel there is too much black on the top of the frame and that the soft focused coal in front of the bun is more distracting than supportive of the theme.

Beautifully composed and tack sharp focus. Colors go together exceptionally well with the blue rimmed plate. Great solid black background.

The purpose of a good foods shot is to make the subject look delicious.. this closeup achieves that goal. The lighting is perfect and the general technical quality is superb. Mmmmm... looks good! Though not necessarily in razor sharp focus I'd prefer to see the foreground muffin be in a little sharper focus than it is, but that might not bother most voters.

Mmmmmmmm... this image makes the cherry cola look delicious. The color and composition are excellent and the overall technical quality of the image is well above average.

Well composed image. Being taken from directly overhead wworks well. Spoon placement and angle is good. The lines behind the bowl will be a slight distraction for some viewers and you might consider applying some light noise reduction.

Good composition, color and arrangement. Looks very appealing. The closest corner of the lasagna holder is out of focus to the point of being a distraction to the viewer. Soft focus in the foreground of an image is always tricky. Looking at the front cover of a Denny's menu, which unfortunately they do not show on their website, you see a good example of a foods picture with soft focused foreground. Your image would be even better than it is if you applied about the same amount of foreground soft focus as the Denny's image has.

Very curious entry for this challenge. Choice of B&W with a lot of grain works for your intent but overall technical quality is low. Though it is fairly obvious what you are getting at most viewers will probably feel it does not work well for them.

Coro is fine and the composition would be good if the big pan behind the chickens were removed. It makes the composition look crowded. The rest of the background is great. Lightin is a bit harsh as can be seen on the top of the chickens. USM is a bit too strong... the seasoning on the chickens is oversharpened, there is haloing most visible in the background lines and the there are "jaggies" along many straight lines and on some curves.
