Naturaly I wished for a higher grade. I wonder why they never promote originality in this site. It's almoust like an unwriten rule that a picture with water will win. And if somebody dosen't obey them, he is hurshle punished. If you can imagine this image wich used a britnes contras layer was close to beeing disqulified.

WOW, I thought this would do much better...personally I loved the shot and gave it a 9.

...and I wish for just a bit more contrast (to render the true blacks black).

Nevertheless, the capture is remarkable enough for a 7 or an 8, in my book. It is regrettable that, apparently, many voters sought to penalize this entry instead of learning from it -and acknowledging the opportunity by voting accordingly.

All I can do is to compensate for this in the only way available to me and elect it my 'favourite'.

It just blows my mind that this picture received 103rd place, but I guess it makes sense since many people are very literal about the rules and not imaginative enough to see how this fulfills the rules. As promised, you provide a recipe in your comments. This picture was my only 10 of the competition. It has story, character, life. It even has spiritual implications, which fits because the preparation of food is a spiritual act and is often tied into ritual.

Something about this pic I just love, but I cannot put my finger on it. Might be that the pic looks almost as old as she is. Reminds me of old pics in my grandma's album. The grain and the b & w work well.

The fact that she's wearing a headscarf makes this seem less accidental, but it's a wonderful crazy shot. However, I think the border is a wee bit thick.

Very curious entry for this challenge. Choice of B&W with a lot of grain works for your intent but overall technical quality is low. Though it is fairly obvious what you are getting at most viewers will probably feel it does not work well for them.

I love this one although it is a bit cheating on the theme.

Wow, I love how this picture looks as though it was taken during the mid-twentieth century. I actually find the frame a bit distracting, perhaps because of your choice to make it broader on the sides than on the top and the bottom. In any case, you've greatly succeeded in capturing a rustic "feel."

I would have liked to see this in color. Your subject (model) seems like a very interesting character!

Grainy and out of focus.

Hmmm, looks like she meant to do that. While the effect may have been intentional, b/w and grainy, the picture loses points because of it. That's just one man's opinion though.

I cant figure out this pic. Doesnt have much to do with food and looks strange on top of that. More like old drawing or such. Dont like it anyway.
