Recipe details:

A salad for foot admirers ;-) Inspired by an article read in a magazine, although those were non-eatable shoe replicas. This one is all eatable and with the chili pepper, the cajun spices and mayonnaise you can adjust the taste to your desire!

Ingredients:
- Carrot
- Cucumber
- Olives
- Corn
- Smoked Salmon
- Chili pepper
- Cajun spices
- Mayonnaise
Tools:
- Iron wire
- pins

Preparation:
- Cut the carrot to the proper length for the heel of the shoe and make this part of the carrot square at the bottom part. Make slices of the rest of the carrot for the garnish.
- Put two iron wires in the top of the heel with the other ends resting on the dish. This will support the sole of the shoe.
- Cut a cucumber through its length. Cut a slice from one of the two halves. This will form the sole of the shoe. Pin the heel part of the sole into the carrot with pins (one of them is still visible in the photo).
- Use a spoon of corn for the toes of the shoe and cover these with the smoked salmon.
- For the sides of the shoe cut narrow long pieces of the skin of the cucumber and let them rest on the sole of the shoe. Pin the toe part on the sole with pins.
- Use an extra part skin of the cucumber as decoration above the salmon. Put a sliced chili pepper on top for contrast and taste.
- Fill the shoe with more corn.
- Cut slices of the olives and use them to represent the brand of the shoe (normally printed on the heel side of the sole, in this case just five rings) and as decoration around the edge of the shoe (on top of the salmon).
- Use the rest of the olives to decorate the slices of the carrot.
- Make the salad extra tasty by adding mayonnaise at the edge of the shoe sole and cajun spices (delicious with the smoked salmon!) as if the shoe had some dirt on it that has fallen off.
- Bon apetit! Beware of the pins and the wires!

Post processing:
- Rotate a little bit
- Crop
- Curves
- Saturation
- Resize
- USM
- Border

Congratulations, but this picture does nothing for me. I guess as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I cannot see what the fuss is all about.

Beautifully composed and tack sharp focus. Colors go together exceptionally well with the blue rimmed plate. Great solid black background.

Food.

This is the second shot of a plate floating in a black void I've seen so far. Really now, who would take the time to prepare a dish like this and then just hurl it into a black hole as you have done here? Take a picture of someone wearing this.

How many times do I have to tell you, don't play with your food! If the carrot were cleaned up a bit, I could picture this plating going over quite well here in NYC... Nice capture, too ;)

I can not wait to see what prompted you to make this. I keep looking for the foot. I see a shoe. Either way, it tickles one's funny bone. Nice work.

Very nice arrangement, great focus, and wonderful colors. Borders are not my favorite but seems to work with this photo. Very minor distraction with the glare on the inner rim to the back of the plate. Well done

Ingenious! I think that i would have spent more time on the title. "Hoof and Mouth"? No. "If the shoe fits, eatit"? No. "Food with soul"? Maybe. "Put your foot in your mouth"? Doubt it. "Sensuous Foot"? I do not know what would be better, but I am sure something would have been. Great job. 8

I really like your creativeness and presentation. great DOF and detail. Perhaps the only flaw might be the reflections given off by the plate 9

Extremely creative idea!! A very interesting meal and it makes a fabulous shot. The colors in this shot look just wonderful! Lighting looks good as well. I can see some texture in the material used as a backdrop, though it doesn't really bother me personally :-) Nice job!

Allow me to say this is extravagant! What I love about it is the design and creativity. Creativity wins the heart of most people. If you didn't put in a caption, I probably would have said it was a slider though. I gave this a 7 just because I'm a bit picky on the lighting (I'm not great at all though). I think if you had another plate that was more simple, I'd say it would be much more interesting. Just because the focal point is a tid bit distracting.
