With Carmen Sandiego in Malibu?

LOL! I was wondering if someone was going to tie Carmen Sandiego in somehow... How could you NOT with a challenge title like that? :) First off, well done on finding someone whom actually looks like he could be Steve. The composition is very nice, but it's too bad that you couldn't capture just the couple and no other people. The DOF is nice and I like the fact that they are staring out at the horizon. The lighting seems a bit harsh (common for most mid-day shots) - I think it may have had more visual appeal if this was shot closer to sunrise or sunset. The harsh light tends to "wash out" the colors a bit. Possibly some Levels and Saturation adjustments could have helped it "pop" a bit more. However, I love the creativity of the idea and that you were able to capture a nice image in such harsh lighting conditions.

Creative idea, but it seems slightly out-of-focus and the lighting seems a bit snapshot-ish. If you wanted to shoot this particular subject (i.e. the frog), it might have helped if you zoomed out slightly to include the whole frog and also changed your angle so that we can see more of the face. After doing so, some post-processing could have helped it "pop" a little more. For example, some Levels adjustments in Photoshop and maybe some dodging and burning could have helped draw the voters attention towards the subject and away from the background. But again, kudos on creativity though. :)

This is a beautiful shot. However, on a dark monitor (which I'm stuck with at work) it's pretty much impossible to see Steve's image. While voters should be using calibrated monitors, I think the very subtle nature of its placement may sway some voters lower. Despite that fact though, I think this is a great shot and is very serene. I think you also could have used a shot like this in the Zen challenge. :)

First off, cool crystal ball! I really like the desaturation and think you selected a very good DOF to help blur out that background. The placement of Steve in the shot is subtle and suits the challenge well. Being that he is a nature photographer and the point of the challenge is to try and track him down, I think this photo meets the challenge perfectly. Well done. :)
