I would like to see more of a focal point in this photo, and the lines in the upper left corner are a bit confusing. This is an interesting shot, though.

Meeting the Challenge: Very well done, no complaints here.

Composition: I love the positioning of the lemon slice, and the glass stones beneath it ground it a bit as well as add some varied texture and good color contrast. The only thing I might say about them though, is that I don't find them anyway connected to the lemon. I like the tight crop here, also. The frame is filled well, with good balance of empty space.

Technical Quality: Excellent, I have a Sony f707, too and love the macro cababilities and fast lens. Everything is very clear, the lighting is excellent and the background is inky black. No post processing problems noticed.

Creativity: Excellent, I tried some things with lemons for this challenge, but couldn't come up with anything nearly this nice.

Overall Conclusion: I was glad to pull up this to critique, as it was one of my very favorites in the challenge, and as stated above, I see no problems and a lot of quality to this photo, except that the glass stones just are not real related to the lemons, but photography being art rather than life, this is only a slight problem, and is only my personal viewpoint.

Congrats on your placement here!

If you have ?'s feel free to email me. Good luck in future challenges, and I'm sure you will do well in them entering this kind of work!

Meeting the Challenge: Excellent job of this. Title also works well with this photo. It looks like the wife is comforting the husband in a time of sadness.

Composition: Excellent, wouldn't change anything about the composition, except one tiny thing. For some reason, the necklace on the husband distracts me just a little bit, as all of the photo is either darkness or human, except for this. No big deal, just being really picky about this detail. I like how the two bodies meld together as if their souls were joined.

Technical Quality: The lighting is nice and provides tons of contrast. As I noted below, personally, I would have like a little less shadow on the wife's face. Nice use of sepia. No post-processing errors noted.

Creativity: Very good, it's hard to portray a couple and add the emotion that this photo portrays.

Conclusion:
A very nice photo, would have expected it to score a little higher, but this was a competitive challenge.

Meeting the Challenge: Despite the comments below, all you see is a shadow and to me, the person himself is hidden. I like the "hint" in the footprints, so we are sure to "finally" get to Waldo. Well done.

Composition: I agree with several below, due to the fact that the upright items at the top of the photo are confusing and the car is distracting. If you could have shot away from those and left the sky in the photo, it would have been great. I love the perspective illustrated with the foot prints, as well as the texture of the sand, even reflected in the shadow. I also like the angle they make and where you are placed in the photo.

Technical Quality: Good lighting, love the shadows in the prints, no post-processing problems noticed. You might have done a slight desaturation to remove some of the blue grain in the shadow, but that's not a big deal.

Creativity: I feel that this was a verycreative shot for this challenge. Keep up that brainwork in this area!

Conclusion: A nice photo if it had been cropped, which to me was it's biggest problem.

Meeting the Challenge: I would say a 10 here, even though Waldo's right up front, he was hard for me to spot with my ADD and 50 year old eyes!

Composition: I do see some apprppriate use of thirds in the composition. Nice contrast and use of b.w. I think there were pro's and cons of including all of the truck. It is obvious what it is, without the picture being real long and full of sky and snow.

Technical Quality: If this hadn't been the hiding waldo challenge, I would have liked to have seen this shot more exposed or differently lit. No obvious post-processing problems noticed. The focus seems to be a bit better on the snow than it is on the subject, or maybe the lighting just makes it seem that way.

Creativity: Good for a candid shot. Not a photo I would hang on my wall and show off (neither was my entry for this challenge ;%)

Conclusion: Challenge very well met, photo could have been more exciting.

Hope this helps, if you have questions, please feel free to email me.

Meeting the Challenge: Does this very well with the repition of the headstones.

Composition: I do think including the whole tree might have made this a bit better. I like the tree in there, however, as it tends to add a little interest into what could have been a rather monotonous gray photo.

Technical Quality: Very well executed, the colors seem to be very right and the focus and dof good. The lighting somehow lends a coldness to the photo, although there are shadows present so it doesn't look flat. The snow adds to the starkness of the cemetary as well.

Creativity: Good, wouldn't have thought of a cemetary for rhythm.

Conclusion: A nice photo, well exectuted, might have been composed a little differently. Good job.

I would have liked this better if the birds were a little more clear. I really like your interpretation of the challenge, though. Good luck.
