Climbing Nightshadeby MaryOComment: Belladonna or Deadly Nightshade. Called belladonna because ladies used to place drops into their eyes in order to dilate their pupils, thereby looking sad-eyed and lovely. The active ingredient is atropine and it is in large doses poisonous if swallowed. |
