Challenge
- Relevant to the Challenge? Yes
- Is subject unique (vs. unoriginal or rehashed)? Yes very creative.
Compostion
- Good or Bad? How can it be fixed? A several people mention compositionally it would be better if the Mermaid were looking into the frame and not out of the frame. Reposition the camera so the she is on the right side of the frame, the rock is in the middle of the frame and the sun is in the top left. The sun in the center tends to dominate, taking away from the Mermaid as the focus.
- Good use of Depth of Field? Yes
- Good focus? Yes
Lighting
- Good use of light? Unfortunately, the foreground lighting (or flash) is over the top, making the rock seem like it's glowing, hence the comments about the fake look. It almost looks like a studio shot, except you'd never get the halo of backlit hair (very nice) like this if it were studio.
Aesthetics/Artistic Appeal:
- Colors and Contrast The colors in the sky, water, and in the Mermaids 'scales' are excellent.
- What is my reaction or feelings? Very artistic. You have quite an interesting portfolio. I'm keeping my eye on you. ;)
