Time to Pay the Billsby WLU07Comment: Aren't watches always supposed to be set to 10:10 for photography? ;-) Joking aside, it would enhance the image, IMO, if the hands on the time piece were in-fram versus just the second hand. The fact the watch and dollar figures are in the same focal plane keeps drawing my eye back and forth between them (which might not be such a good thing, though your image is aptly titled!). When landing on the watch it feels "cut off" because the hands are cropped out of the framing. Still, nice execution of shallow DOF. |

Abbey Rd Reduxby GordonComment: Seems more motion blur than shallow DOF, though there is some DOF at play here. |

IT'S TOO COLD HERE! I'M GOING BACK TO CANADA!by DustyComment: Great sharpness and nice interpretation of the challenge. I wish we weren't looking at the tail end of the goose, or at least had some view of it's face. Still, can't argue with how crisp the subject is and how that's only further enhanced by the DOF. |

Wanna drink?by DaveSMComment: Excellent application of shallow DOF ... perfectly executed. Some might right this one off as a cliche stock photo method of displaying shallow DOF, however I think it really highlights the technical attributes of using DOF to bring focus (no pun intended) to a specific element within the composition. Well done. |
