The haze in the center is called a hot spot caused by the lens.
A better lens to use is the canon 50mm f1.8 which has no hot spot.

You picked a tricky challenge to do your 1st ir photo entry. At 40 seconds the trees are always going to look soft in even the slightest breeze. The hot-spot in the middle is hardly noticeable and you have mastered the channel swapping already. A very respectable score and i`m sure your going to score even higher when you get your shutter speed faster.
