Falconbridge is falling down...... falling down...by BigSmilesComment: Howdy! This shot, although has a humorous element, is missing some key technical qualities. The tower itself is leaning to the right (maybe why you titled it this). This makes the eye feel the shot is unbalanced. The positioning of the tower in the middle of the frame puts all the focus on it, however, with so much of the legs from the tower showing your eye isn't drawn to the text at the top. Instead you get lost in the fence and tree. The tree also makes for noise that isn't needed. If you had cropped just above the tree and used maybe a square framing as a result the eye would clearly see the text on the tower and the viewer would relate this to the challenge better. The blue in the tower is nice, it however is flat against the sky behind it. Upping your contrast a little might help seperate the two elements. The edges around the tower are a little soft, maybe a light sharpen to help make it more crisp.
This is a funny idea, I just feel it got lost in your translation to the viewers.
(my two cents) |

Solemnby AnastasiaComment: Nice sharp picture. The eyes follow the lines to the trees and river nicely. Hard to expose for a bright day like this, but you did a good job preserving the detail under the bridge but not having it to oversaturated in the sky. |

Extending Over the Severn Estuaryby KonadorComment: This is the most unique perspective I've seen. The framing of the suspension part of the bridge by the underneath of it farther back is very well done! I like your tone and contrast used. |

Kymugla Covered Bridgeby ShiiizzzamComment: Your details are great. All the branches and railing being razor sharp! Your crop is inviting with the path rounding to the ramp. Nice shot!! |

Before the Stormby xertionComment: Critique Club Comment:
This is a very dramatic shot! You have captured a nice feel that could be used in an add for many things. Your gradients are very good. You have adjusted the contrast and brightness well to bring out the feel of the clouds. I wish that this tree was in a field by itself, the surround trees take away from some of the impact of the larger one. This is not a situation you can control, and you've done well to minimize the other trees overall impact and made the main focus the light area behind the large tree. Usually most would say that the main subject being at the center of the frame doesn't work, but in this case it works well. The framing by the light cloud area behind it makes it fit. Your post processing work is good, no real artifacts or signs of oversharpening.
I like what you've done here. It is a strong shot and for all the winter shots of trees we've seen lately, this is one of the top ones. |

Out of the black and into the light.by kiwinessComment: Nicely done! I like how the eye is drawn to the door at the end of the railing. The black and white conversion is well done. Your DOF is deep and really adds a great sense of depth to the shot. Your choice to expose for the foreground was a good decision. The detail would have been lost if you exposed for the brighter background. Having the background bright does not distract from the impact of the rail leading to the door. Nice job, in my top 10 this week! |
