Well captured, well written. Beautiful on so many levels. I'd love to see this held in Rita's hand as part of a portrait, but honestly I doubt it's a shot I'd set up if it was my family. Some things are just too real for me to try to capture with my camera.

DoF is what makes this for me; an otherwise ordinary piece, like so many in so many homes around the world, here, made extra special through artistic choices and presentation. Lovely.

Nice image, silhouette for the elk, but then drawing some light for the bell (which focused me on that, hopefully the point). The bright background is a nice contrast to the darker subjects.

What a wonderful shot; soft throughout, carrying that theme through, with soft (but not too soft) focus, subdued colors, nice use of vignette to direct the eyes. Wonderful.

day 27 - snow at 2.00am

Excellent. We haven't gotten much snow here in the East of England since I came (in 2003), and I miss it. A bit more than you, it sounds like, but honestly not much. The shot is a good record, and maybe burning the streetlamp a bit, or selecting that area with a feathered selection and using shadow/highlight adjustments on it might work to tone it down a bit (though for me it's not that distracting, just a bit).
