Love Lostby
cloudsmeComment: Hi from the Critique Club.
Feel free to PM me with any question or comments. Hopefully i can offer you a few thing to consider.
First: Portraits and especially studio portraiture is not an area of strength for me so my comments should taken in that context.
Composition: Great job on the placement of your model/wife in the frame. The tight cropping at the top, the tilt of the head and the placement of the rose all are very effective. The little piece of shoulder?? showing just below the hair is a minor distraction.
LIghting: Again, a good job in my eyes. Catchlights are nice and detail on the hair and accross the face is also good. Possibly a little more shadow on the model's right side of face would have given the pic a more romantic feel.
Focus on the eyes is good. Several other parts look a little soft but i believe that is an acceptable characteristic of portraiture.
Picture seems to have a touch too much red. This may be a problem with my monitor.
Finally: The tears are a great idea. Post processing is maybe a little too obvious for some and this was the likely reason for a lower score, as some of the other commentators alluded to.
Keep shooting
