Shadow Landingby namComment: What if you crop the image to the lower rectangle (2/3rd) of bricks with just the plant and the shadow of the bird? Makes it more special IMO. |

A Pair and a Pearby DistantColoursComment: Such still life compositions are all about shape IMO. Especially on the left pear you can see the light coming from two sides, while the pear still shows a dark patch in the middle. Also you can see strong shadow in the right of that pear and a strong shadow on the left of the second pear. This gives a strange shape to the pear. It would have been better to use a single large light source (softbox or light shining through a sheet or light in umbrella) and then control the light and shadows gradually with additional soft reflectors where needed. In that way you can sculpt the pear and emphasise its shape. |

Tribute to Lev's Tribute to Irving Penn by primabarbaraComment: This is really, really close to the version of LevT. Closer to the original than any other image in this challenge. Even a bit more dark (especially lower left), more intens, more harsh, which brings it closer to Irving Penn's portraits. Maybe a bit oversharpened (especially visible along the arm) |

Liquid State of Mindby 3DsArcherComment: I found the original by MarkB. Great effort. Of course, impossible to make the same, fluid dynamics. Your image makes me think of Bert in Sesamy Street. A bit more contrast maybe to make it pop more? |

Blue Flowerby jomariComment: I assume this refers to the blue flower by clickodak. I like yours a bit better because the shadows are a bit softer. |

Lucie's Blueberriesby LydiaComment: I found the original. A good effort to emulate it. Nice old spoon, berries placed exactly the same, similar crop. But it is missing the same feel because you used a very different light source. You used a harsh light from the left while the original was made with a soft (large) light from the right, resulting in very different shadows and emphasis of the shapes. |
