| 03/10/2008 08:15:37 AM | Black Dog by charliebakerComment: This was my favorite image in this Challenge. Really liked the processing on this, but especially liked the 'feel' with the dog looking out into the harsh ocean and those wild and windswept trees on the rocks/cliff face. For me this Challenge was primarily about matching the feel of an image with that of the song, and in this, I think you did it very well. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/10/2008 08:12:47 AM | The Ocean (Houses of the Holy-Track 8)by SouthCoastOr3gonComment: One of the Led Zeppelin songs I am not that familiar with. After I voted I looked up the lyrics and saw that this song is about the crowd, still - a beautiful image that is a good visual analogy anyway. Not sure why I thought I thought this was multiple exposures, instead of the obvious long exposure. Very nice capture of the ocean, that, again, has a 'mystical' feel, as so many of their songs have. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/10/2008 07:45:44 AM | We come from the land of the ice and snowby LalliSigComment: You and the other one with this title popped this song into my head for days - not so bad, it is a classic. I knew this was yours - an excellent image in itself which did fit in with a 'modern day' take on the song, coupled with your title, it worked quite well (I gave it a 6) - I guess I wanted to see something 'warlike', a Viking maybe, to match the 'mythical' and 'hard' lyrics and music. Still this grew on me and I could imagine her walking down that 'icey road' to this song. This image does have the 'drama'. Just read your notes, here:
"Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green, can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are your overlords.
On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.
So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing. "

| 03/09/2008 08:47:27 PM | Corner Officesby bvyComment: I gave this a 6. I thought the symmetry was fairly good - although to really nail a shot like this is very difficult in my opinion. The image wasn't 'strong' enough for me, for this type of image, whether that was because of the lighting, contrast, colors, not sure - just needed 'extra' to make it jump off the screen. The vertical framing seemed a bit off, perhaps a little more width, not sure. I liked the concept, but it was perhaps too close to the recent Architecture challenge for me and, as I said, had to have that little 'extra' to really grab my attention after having voted in that. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

And... "Sorry to fall in the same old rut of posting more cat pictures, but with 20 of the little buggers a huge chunk of my time goes to interacting with them -- AAARRRGGHHH!!!" It's a hard life. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
