Good 'opportunity capture'. You are right about the focus of course. Perhaps converting to b&w may add something, who knows. Wonder if the woodpecker 'twisted' the glasses/spectacles on the owl - could be a daily attack - "Get off my post".

Nice subtle shot of a rose, with equally nice bokeh. Perhaps a slightly tighter crop at the bottom may have made this even better. The edge of the petals may be slightly 'blown' but likely difficult to control this, the effect is quite nice anyway in my opinion. The colors, while not that 'vivid', are very nice. edit:removed temporary note

Very nice. Difficult, but if you perhaps could have nudge rotated it up on the right, to try to crop top & bottom to get that branch 'perfectly diagonal', may have given this something 'extra'.

Criticism; difficult to comment (and indeed vote) given the nature of the Challenge .. especially on this one. I like the use of space though, perhaps slightly less 'height' may have worked even better, not sure.

Criticism; difficult, especially given the nature of the Challenge, but this still looks 'too snapshottish' in my opinion. The flooring clashes with the dress/outfit color, etc. Maybe a different crop may have made this better (especially at the top), not sure. Difficult to correct in basic editing, but seems some slight 'red eye' too, but could just be reflection, hard to discern at this size.

Criticism; difficult, given the Challenge - perhaps slightly longer exposure (camera dependent) not sure, difficult to comment (and vote) on this Challenge at all. In my opinion, this can be taken as 'took the shot too early to capture the 'pop moment' (which fits the Challenge better- again my opinion) or as you've said in your title, 'too early for popcorn' - if that makes sense. Difficult Challenge to vote/comment on. Criticism; sharper/more detail on the kernel, like the oil 'effect'. Perhaps some more space above/below/to the right, may have also made this better in my opinion.

A variation in composition as well as attention to those other aspects, would likely have made this better in my opinion. Good concept, difficult to 'illustrate', especially for this Challenge.
