Criticism; difficult, as opportunity doesn't wait long (if indeed it was there at all), but 'if only' you got it 'taking a step'. Seems a little 'soft', whether that is focus or 'neat image' not sure, either way good capture. Just seems the snow/ice is slightlysharper, but difficult to discern at this size. Up to 8 from 7. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Criticism; not much, to really nit-pick, maybe a slight variation in the crop at the top, but minor. Perhaps a little more detail on the fore rock (including the 'overhang'), but likely difficult. Hard to discern with this view, but the horizon may need a slight nudge up on the left, but apologies if wrong - the shadows are nice in the fore, but if they and the colors could be emphasized just slightly (if possible), may have made this even better in my opinion. I think I have to take this up to 9 from 8. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Criticism; my first thoughts on viewing this (and still are to some extent) are that this has more of a Korean (or 'other' Asian) type of 'style', than Japanese, but apologies if wrong. Looks slightly 'over neat-imaged' (again apologies if wrong), but 'works' nevertheless. Overall though, a very nice photograph. edit:typos Message edited by author 2006-01-02 06:07:46. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Criticism; just wish it were a fraction sharper, although I realize you may have intentionally gone for this 'softness', either way, I like it. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 01/01/2006 09:50:47 PM | Swan-11.jpgby kevrobertsonComment: Great perspective and angle. Overall seems a bit over-saturated in my opinion, however given the coloring of the swan, I should imagine any tweaking of contrast/colors was very difficult. It also seems a bit grainy, but could be your intent. The colors are all very complementary, especially the pink sky behind the red/dark pink beak of the swan. A few 'issues' (could be dust, whatever) top to middle left, the only thing is perhaps a nudge rotation up on the right, as this seems crooked (but apologies if wrong), and perhaps a crop variation, to include or exclude (dependent what you had to work with of course) of that bird(?) top left. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 01/01/2006 09:46:48 PM | Devotionby sajinComment: As I said in the triptych, great captures. In my opinion however, the coloring was better in the triptych version - this seems overall a little dark, especially compared to the other, which of course is difficult to discern at this/that size. Perhaps you were trying to attain this added darkness (your call obviously), just my opinion the coloring worked better as you had it in the triptych. '1' in the triptych was also a very good shot and good depiction of 'devotion'. This also seems to have a few 'issues' (a red 'tint', or something), on the left of the tongue and the left of the cub's 'chin'. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 01/01/2006 08:44:30 AM | Frog4_640.jpgby kirbicComment: Good perspective, 'pose', colors and texture capture. Focus seems near perfect on the whole frog. Shame about the 'feet'. The blue in the background really enhances this, especially the eyes. Good capture, especially for in the wild. Just noticed - those long.. 'tail' looking parts, must be his 'feet'.. unusual. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 01/01/2006 06:39:43 AM | IMG_3681.jpgby Rando D300Comment: I like the perspective on this one, allows the feather detail to come through a little better. The down side, is the face 'cut' but even still, makes for a slightly unique cardinal shot. Colors are very nice. As with the others, seems slightly grainy, but could be a result of a close crop. Good capture either way, especially at this 'under' angle. Perhaps (depending of course what you had to work with) a little more space above and to the right of the cardinal, may have given the illusion/perspective of 'height' more so and added an extra element to this. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 01/01/2006 06:38:23 AM | IMG_3662.jpgby Rando D300Comment: This and 3663 are both nice. This one seems just a little oversaturated (but apologies if wrong), still the color is good and bold. 'If only' the tail, but you know that. edit:typo Message edited by author 2006-01-01 06:40:13. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
