Very well said, Andy. This one was hard for me to judge. I gave it a 6, but that was from instinct. I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong. You captured it very well.

My only other comment is that the shoes seem to need some USM. I believe with sharper focus, and (do all the stuff Andy said), you'd have a stunning shot.

This is a great pic. Truly beautiful. My only comment would be that the sunrise is "posterized" a bit. You might be able to smooth it out using either a selective gaussian blur or neat image.

Responding to your request for "brutal honesty":

I "got it" when I saw your image. I knew you referring to war as obsolete (or wishing it obsolete, rather). I just thougth it was a bit messy with the extra "little green men", twigs, and general flotsam. I was not offended or put off by the concept in the slightest.
