the stowawayby grigrigirlComment: Other than the desaturated colour I think this image is lovely - reminds me of the books I'd read as a child. |

Peek by AleciaComment: Nice composition. The choice to position the dog so that only part of his face is visible works well. I also like the chosen crop of how much window to include/ exclude. The one main pane is nicely balanced by the small included areas of the other 3 panes. I also like the contrast between the exterior white paint and the dark textured material inside the window - the same contrasts reflected in Fido himself. A strong image! |

Practice to Deceiveby crabappl3Comment: Another of my favourites in this challenge.
Lighting is spot on - the way it paints the threads of that web is wonderful and the pools of light outside make that view, though undefined, seem appealing.
Using the window frame as both border and framing for the view works very well and creates a very strong composition.
Black and white is absolutely right for the image.
I'm sure (and I hope) this will do well. |

Web Designerby SonifoComment: Very striking image and wonderful composition. My single negative would just be lighting - I find his face too much in shadow and the highlight on his body a touch harsh. Still a very strong image and a very unusual one. |

Prisonby Chilly0999Comment: Stark, evocative, graphically strong, great focal point of the trees outside. Wonderful use of strong light and shadow. Great composition with the negative space towards the lower left. |

Looking backby heidaComment: Goodness - as soon as I saw this it made me think of old black and white films - and then I saw the title - it fits really well. I love the framing created by the car window. I like that he's not looking at the camera. His arm positioned just so really makes a nice shape of his body and further strengthens a strong composition. Focus seems a touch soft? |

Aloneby birgirComment: A lovely image with a lovely peaceful aspect. In terms of minor improvements (in my opinion only of course) I'd like to see the person move just a touch to their right so they don't appear quite so squashed in to the side, though not too far, certainly not centred. I'd also prefer if their shoes weren't so evident - black shoes would look best. That said, perhaps this is a candid rather than a posed shot, in which case, all I can say is, well spotted!! |

Framedby myqylComment: Very sweet.
If this is a shot you've set up then I'd suggest that the older girl is repositioned a touch so that just a touch more of her face shows. The lighting is also a little harsh - I assume it's just the time of day.
If this is a candid, then I'd say well captured and well spotted - in those situations I understand one has less control.
Nice image either way!

wondering about the outside world...by timmiComment: Nicely taken and good composition. Oddly enough, usually when I see an aquarium photo I feel it should be more like this (no sign of the aquarium surface itself, no reflections, no kids standing infront of the glass) but in this case, in this challenge I think it might be even better with a small child with their back to the camera to make it clearer the animal is looking out, or perhaps another visual clue that this is a confined space. That said, there are clues there, such as the clean curve of the tank surface so... it's not like it's not possible to figure out what one is looking at.
Anyway, I think this is a really strong entry - best of luck! |
