Made In Chinaby ScantyNebulaComment: Nice use of colour and DOF. I like the straight diagonal of the foreground and the way it contrasts with the lazy curves behind it. |

Seaside Arabesque by jjbeguinComment: Don't like the title but the image is great. Absolutely the kind of study of shape and texture that I like (and take myself, though not as well as this). Great diagonal from corner to corner. |

Ornate by Spanish_GreaseComment: Nice idea! I like how the "overlaps" create new shapes of their own! Unusual lighting adds interest. |

Moonscapeby sjonniComment: Great lighting to just show only those areas that you want us to see. And given the shape of what we do see here, isn't it incredible how the human mind "fills in" what's missing so that the mind "sees" an entire face/ head? Gestalt theory or something like that - been too long since I was a student to remember! I like this very much! |

Crossby tommy_tComment: A very strong shape and simple treatment works best here to bring out colours and shapes. |

circle of a pearlby neenee1999Comment: I didn't expect much from the thumbnail (though I do always reserve judgement until I've taken a good look at the full size image, of course!).
But actually I really like this. I love the effect of the low DOF upon the glitter - the multicolour glitter is perfect for that. Great choice of colour for background and composition works too. This would make a great Xmas card. |

Shapes of Winter - Snowmanby StevePaxComment: Great idea to use an object AND it's shadow to form a more abstract overall shape. In this case I think the execution isn't quite polished enough - the lighting is a little uneven and harsh (maybe put a white sheet over the light source). This makes the colour of the background somewhat uneven too. Image quality also seems low, though I appreciate this may be down to camera resolution. |
