Three are oneby olimarComment: Usually the personal portraits don't appeal to me - they are often too focused on the emotive and personal meanings with too little attention paid to composition, light and aesthetic appeal. This one is different - the lighting is really excellent, so too is the composition and it's at the same time a very intimate and personal portrait and a universal image. |

Evolve by grigrigirlComment: What an artistic and striking image. I love the way the thin material looks like an image projected on to her body and almost creates an illusion of double explsure. Expression on her face and simple, tilted composition both work well as does the highly orange colour cast. |

A Simple Loveby ArtysteComment: This is the Blue Ribbon in my eyes...
The lighting is inspired - the kid looks like an angel bathed in heavenly light - and that's coming from an atheist!!!
It's a beautiful, touching, universal image.

IMG_8178-1.jpgby allankentComment: Would be stronger without the visible pen lines which were presumably added as an aide to positioning the pins?
Focus is soft at the left - DOF too shallow (in my opinion) for this pic. Message edited by author 2005-08-17 10:25:45. |

1955by rexComment: Clever idea to make it look as though the image itself was taken in 1955. I imagine a few folks will be decrying that the content is meant to represent the year not the look of the finish but I kind of like it. On the other hand, content wise it's the kind of image that is just a family album snapshot - someone's new car etc. If it were real I might possibly have vague interest as historical record but in 2005? I just can't find any appeal in the contents OUTSIDE of the fact that it meets the challenge, if that makes sense. What I mean is that if I were giving 5/5 for meeting challenge and 5/5 for appealing to me in it's own right, I'd give 5 and 1. Goodness but I'm rambling away a la Kavey. I'll stop now. :o) |

Moon Glowby ChezComment: Is that the moon at the top right or a serendipitous refraction of light? I'm guessing moon but I like that it could be either. Great nightscape colours. Simple composition but lots of detail. Has a real atmosphere to it. |

Time to go in Dorisby whiteroomComment: Wow, what a lovely portrait. One of the few images of woodies that has a really palpatable sense of emotion. Wonderful, wonderful lighting, the lines of the light and rain are so clear. Great background. Lovely texture of the wet surface bricks/ tiles. Nice composition. All good! |

Splashy Reflectionby marmalade1121Comment: Great use of reflection and interesting cropping. I think I quite like the lack of head - creates an abstract and anonymous feel. Selective desat works too. |

High Humidityby CalliopeKelComment: I like your crop and use of negative space. The high contrast black and white also works well. Also like the lines created by the rain drops falling during the exposure. Nice job! |
