Into the Millions by ZoomdakComment: A very compelling and dramatic image. It seems to be a study of the impact of the cold, hard numbers on the individual psyche (or maybe I'm just bs'ing myself ;) This is strong, though, and I like it. Nice work. |

circumference = 2*r*Piby soerenComment: The composition is interesting and fairly well executed. The lighting seems a little hard, though. As far as impact, this seems to just scratch the surface of pi and doesn't offer any further depth. But, there does seem to be a story here, perhaps of a grade school student working on their geometry homework. |

Apple Piby SoulMan1978Comment: This is an interesting approach, but the lighting really ruins what could have been a great shot. It appears that you used straight-on lighting (such as an on-camera flash) and that resulted in very flat lighting, a poor shadow around the apple, and the hot spot in the middle. The conversion to B&W just emphasises the flatness of it. Try lighting it from the left side or somewhere between the front and side. The shadow could then become a graphical element of the image, and the roundess of it would work well with the pi theme. |

About 3.14by GeneralEComment: This is a very clever interpretation of the challenge. The lace tablecloth gives this a real home-spun feel that works well with the yellowish lighting. My only criticism would be that the lighting feels a little too hot, especially on the third pie from the left. |

PiPaperby mian3010Comment: This looks like an experiment in shallow depth of field, but the composition doesn't work well for it. It seems like the goal was to have the begining of the number in sharp focus and then have it fade off out of focus as it continues, thus demonstrating the infinity of pi. However, the table top, chair and the rest of the background distract from this. It would be a stronger message if the all we saw was the white paper and numbers on it instead. |

Infinite Symmetryby imagesbytlpComment: Nice emphasis on details. The intricate threading on the compass nicely mirrors the intricacy of the detailed definition. The selective focus works well to guide the eye. Might be stronger if the image displayed more to the right and less to the left since the definition on the left is in sharp focus and has nothing to do with pi. |

Pi 3.1416 22/7by Fairfield20Comment: Well lit and good, sharp focus. I'm not sure about the tie in between the cards and the number pi besides the obvious numerical reference. The circular chips are by far a stronger tie in with the callenge topic and would have been better if they played a larger role in the composition. I do love the way you've captured the rich color and texture of the wood, though. |

Ancient Mathby sudhiComment: This is an interesting take on the challenge. It conures images of laurel wreaths on the heads of ancient greek philosophers. Softer lighting might have enhanced the color and texture of the leaves, and a less modern looking wood background would also strengthen the theme. |

Double Druid Pi by scarbrdComment: Nicely captured and it ties into the challenge on many levels. It feels a bit over-sharpened to me, but that's such a catch-22 here at dpc. If you didn't over-sharpen, I'd probably be saying it feels too soft! Either way, the lighting is lovely and the colors are nice and rich. Great job! |
