Dreams of Isisby fulgentComment: A beautiful & highly artistic image with a timeless quality that makes the title so apposite. I guess the lovely (and indeed dream-like) lines are created by some sort of pleated fabric? Whatever, it's an impressive yet effortless satisfaction of the challenge theme. 8 |

Road to the Tetons by postoakinversionComment: This is a genuinely beautiful image, stylishly composed and executed with care and skill. Many superficially effective photographs lose their appeal after a while, but this is not one of those ... I think you'll still be proud of this harmonious work decades from now. I know I would be. 9. |

The Journeyman by muur88Comment: A high impact image. Shows the rest of us just how dramatic the leading lines of everyday objects can be when properly incorporated into a meticulously composed photograph. 9 |

The Choosen Oneby roadrunnerComment: This is very effective use of leading lines on a couple of levels. First there's the beams of sunlight, of course. But there's also the near mirror-image of the hill and the clouds, which also work together to concentrate the viewer's attention on the same central area. I also like the fact that you're confident enough to know when to put aside the rule of thirds & go for a symmetrical composition, which is just right for this image. 9 |

Out of the shadowby pmottaComment: Lovely image. Some will quibble about the overblown highlights in front of the girl, and others about the intrusive tree branch, but it's nevertheless a very effective interpretation of the challenge topic. 7 |

Girl Interruptingby e301Comment: Very sophisticated photograph. Beautifully composed and processed for maximum impact. Also love the title. All in all, I think it's just about flawless, and the most mature interpretation of the challenge topic I've seen. 10. |

Untitled, 2005by pawdrixComment: This quirky shot, which breaks almost every rule, is very effective. To list the several things wrong with it would be pointless, especially as that would overlook the fact that it really works, and is one of this challenge's more creative and memorable images. It ain't beautiful though, and alas will probably not appeal to many. 8. |

stormclouds over the Tararuasby kiwinickComment: Love the photograph (and the Tararuas), but the "stormclouds" don't seem prominent enough to warrant inclusion in the title. In any case, it's an effective use of leading lines, especially with the point of convergence placed on the farm building. 7 |

Starting Lineby SeaSailComment: This is a simple idea, executed with skill. The result is one of those especially effective & memorable images that makes me think, "Why couldn't I have done that?" The photography is competent, but the idea is really terrific. And what makes it even better is you've resisted the temptation to overdo it; the track shoes, the lanes, the dreams, and THE LINE ... that's the whole story. One of the most creative approaches to use of Leading Lines. Well done. 9 |

Summer Walk. (infrared)by marboComment: I've always disliked infrared photographs; I could never see the point. After seeing this, now I can. It is the most specific and sympathetic exploitation of this portion of the spectrum that I have seen. The fact that it is also a very fine composition as well as an effective demonstration of Leading Lines makes me admire it even more. 8. (P.S. I still don't like IR nearly as much as visible). |
