The Patient Gardenerby JohnTFComment: Lovely idea, lovingly captured. There are technically better photographs in the challenge, but none that are more thoughtful and elegant than this. Terrific composition, too. And a great title. 8 |

1957by KaDiComment: Good grief! I didn't vote in this challenge, but I am dismayed at the number of commentators who obviously feel that the 'blown' portions of this image (and any image, I suspect) are by definition 'bad photography'. Of course, people are entitled to be narrow-minded. But surely they should at least have the wit to recognise that the photographer clearly intended the effect in this case, and isn't now sitting reading their comments, slapping her forehead and saying, "What was I thinking ... how could I have missed that?". |

Intensity by SonifoComment: This is a spectacular photograph. Masterful composition; every element is carefully positioned, and is contributing to the whole. There's nothing uncertain and nothing wasted. (I don't think it's going too far to compare it to good classical music, from a compositional point of view ... makes me think of "Night on the Bare Mountain' by Mussorgsky). Terrific tonal range, with satisfying detail throughout. Also a fascinating range of textures. It's an image filled with interest and reward for the viewer who cares to give it a couple of minutes' study. For example, if that's a rain guage on the second post, it's a very clever inclusion. I only choose one 10 and this is it. (I suppose some will quibble about the sharpening artifacts on the barbed wire, but I think the extra definition was necessary in this case) |

Bano de Lluvia en Mexicoby JutildaComment: Very nice image. It's a deft composition; just enough of the building to show us what it is, but not so much that it loses its charm & intimacy. Really terrific rain; it's bucketing down! 7 |

Umbrella Blownby JPRComment: An interesting and effective composition, also a little weird and quirky (which I like very much). 7 |

Rain, Rain Go Away...by PhilosComment: Nice composition, effective rain, and an appealing little model. Quite high contrast on the skin tones, but I like that too. 7 |

Keeping Dry!by MakkaComment: Very appealing portrait of a charming subject. Your simple but effective composition makes the most of both the model and the theme. Well done. 7 |

Gutter Greeneryby singeComment: Simple idea, executed with plenty of flair and skill. You've used composition and exposure very well to make such an interesting image out of an everyday scene that most of us might have overlooked. The water stream seems a little overprocessed, but it's effective anyway. 7 |

"The Monsoon Season"by tfarrell23Comment: Great detail in the clouds and a very fine exposure deflect the spotlight away from what would probably be a rather pedestrian foreground. Well done on directing the attention of the viewer so deftly. 7 |

Come Again Some Other Dayby jpochardComment: The very best of the "Rain, rain, go away...' images. Lovely thoughtful young model, terrific rain-on-the-window effect. Nice composition, photography and processing. 7 |
