Old Schoolby gsalComment: This could be a Gunnar shot. If it's not, then you are as good as he is, in which case congratulations are in order. I admire the capture of childish sentiment without the usual cloying sweetness. It feels authentic. |

Fallenby CharleneComment: I hardly ever like photographs of flowers, but this is a 'hardly ever' moment. It's no coincidence of course, that you chose the title you did. For the same reason, this lily is also the symbol of the Easter Rising of 1916 in Ireland, celebrated in WB Yeats's great poem of a 'terrible beauty' ΓΆ€“ Easter 1916:
"... We know their dream; enough
to know they dreamed and are dead.
And what if excess of love
bewildered them till they died?..." |

Bottle cap on dusty deskby bob350Comment: I wish you had used a less expository title, because this could otherwise be so many things, all of which are more interesting than a bottle cap. A strange illuminated sign. A pleasingly incomprehensible art installation. A vending machine selling the latest energy drink (Blue Bull, perhaps). A bus stop shelter at the North Pole. Lots more, all fun. Are you quite sure it's just a bottle cap? |

Outdoor Cafeby mindbottlingComment: The repeating table motif with its attendant shadow play is arresting but it's the implied story that retains the attention for longer ... why are all the other tables empty? yes it's cold, but it's late morning so there should be some coffee drinkers, surely? and where is the other person from the occupied table? taking the picture, perhaps? but if so, why is the woman at the table not looking this way? and what is she doing with her left leg? It's good fun, this picture. |

Benevolenceby wei1108Comment: Beautifully simple in both conception and execution, and all the more effective for that restraint. A high class portrait. |

Engagedby reephotoComment: Well, I love horse photographs and take a lot myself, and I have found that some of the most radical crops/compositions are surprisingly effective. You have too. This is very powerful and, as your title suggests, engaging. |

Moment of Silenceby izadoodleComment: I'd like to be indifferent to this (because it's a bit corny) but I can't do it; it is so beautifully done. Nice work. |

Cupid's Challengeby tvsometimeComment: The light on his face, like a spotlight, transforms the girls in the window into a chorus line. Now all we need is for cupid's arrow to hit the passing lady, and we have a story! There's no business like show business.
Terrific photograph. |

Life Unprettyby RKTComment: I'd like to say how much I like the photograph but I know who this gentleman is, so all I can feel when I look at it is anxiety. |
